Garrison has an attitude problem. That’s not good, especially when you’re not good enough for a coach to put up with it.

I didn’t notice Garrison near the huddles during timeouts in the second half. I think he’s a major problem. Bad attitudes have a way of infesting the entire team.

Pope needs to have a one on one with him, and let him know that it’s not about him. It’s about the team. If that doesn’t get thru to him, then he can rot on the end of the bench.
If he doesn’t understand that by now then Pope really doesn’t understand the assignment or can’t get kids who do.

Lack of effort and bad timing even when he does try.

He’s 6’10 with above average athleticism. There’s ZERO excuse for his lack of blocks. It literally doesn’t matter if a 5’9 guard drives on him. They’ll shoot a layup and he either won’t even try to block it or he will miss the ball. It’s pathetic.

As a freshman he averaged 1.5 blocks per game in 22mpg. He gets here and has averaged 17.3mpg last year and this year but only averaged 0.6 blocks per game last year and 0.3 bpg this year. That’s ABSOLUTELY lack of effort. Theres literally no other excuse for how block production has basically ended.

I thought Butler was pretty awesome last year till he got hurt.
He is the lone exception. Amari won defensive player of the year like 3 straight years before UK. He wasn’t a bad defender here but he wasn’t 3x DPOY caliber either. Oweh was mainly known for his defense at OU. Wouldn’t know that since he got here. Garrison was actually a pretty decent defender at OSU, especially for a freshman. Here he is one of the worst defenders you’ll ever see.

Quaintance will be the true test. If he ends up being bad or just an average defender here then it’s definitely a Pope issue.

I don’t believe Pope dropped an F bomb. I do expect Garrison to be off the team by conference play. It’s a shame because BG has size and natural ability to have a nice career playing basketball. He’s too immature to make himself a great player.
if it happens its his choice. Pope might tell a kid its best to move on at the end of the season but he'd never throw a kid off unless he was toxic to the team. Garrison has motivation issues but I don't think he is at the level of being toxic.

BG has had effort issues this year, and has struggled to find his role. Tonight was it. It’s what he was last year. He needs to be a high energy guy off the bench that makes his money on defensive end, hustle plays, and offensive rebounding.

He deserves some credit tonight.
