Mother 17er.

Until recently, I never in my life remember an MSU kicker being injured. Then Croom signs an all-world guy out of Vicksburg who promptly breaks his foot. Brachle comes here, does a great job, and tears a ligament? WTF!!!!!

At least we have a good backup. But for heavens sake, keep this guy wrapped in pillows.

Expand on 2nd degree ligament tear. Serious? Not Serious? How long is recovery time?

And, I think the Vicksburg guy's problem was a 2nd degree labial tear - not the foot.

Not to pick on you, but I am so 17ing tired of hearing this "We are M-State" ********. It applied when LT and Crxxm were in charge of things because we pretty much intentionally kept shooting ourselves in the foot and weren't really even trying to build a solid winning program. But it's a new day now. That loser mentality is gone from our AD and coaching staff and our fans need to learn to get rid of it too.

until game 5 to do this. I mean, there was no use in having to deal with that bothersome medical redshirt request. Too much paperwork.

the higher the number, the more severe something is. Don't know if that helps.

If it's a tear, I suspect that he will have sugery on it, followed by some PT and then he could be maybe close to 100% by next fall depending on how he heals and how hard he works.

If it were me, I wouldn't let him kick anymore this year. I think doing so would be foolish, especially when we have another kicker that is competent. He needs to heal and get better.

a grade 3 is a full tear, while 2 is a partial, and 1 is just a slight strain. i had a grade 2 mcl tear in high school. I was able to come back and play the next week since i was a tight-end and did not have much need for lateral movement. I had to wear a brace for the rest of the season. I remember our trainer saying if i was a skill position player I might have to sit out a few games. But Im sure he is getting therapy around the clock compared the rice therapy that i was told to use.

i guess it would've been a 'high' grade two, since it was as close to a complete tear as possible without a full tear. ACL, btw. swells up pretty bad for a few days, then feels better most of the time, EXCEPT when your knee randomly buckles (because the ACL is what keeps it from doing that). when that happens it feels like someone relocated your nuts to the middle of your knee and then kicked them. that happens in decreasing frequency for several weeks.

i really can't imagine a kicker being able to perform anywhere near 100% with that injury, whether its his planting or kicking foot. Just too much strain on either knee from the force of the kick. IMO, that's a full tear waiting to happen. Sit him and he's fine for spring training. tear it fully and he's doubtful for next fall.

no surgery necessary on a partial tear, btw. for ACL anyway, no idea on any of this for the other two ligaments.
