Chip and Nate have been hitting the ball very well. Chip is hitting .400+ and Nate is hitting .293 I think. I know chip likely will be hurt again this year. I think good play from Nate will be key for success this year. Everyone else (Prado, McCann, Uggla, Heyward) will get their numbers barring injuries. Freeman has shown power and potential so far this spring.

One concern is with Jurrjens. He couldn't hit 90 with his fastball the other day. Blamed it on shoulder tightness from offseason workouts. Should loosen up some with more innings. Braves really need him pitching like he was 2-3 years ago.

I feel the braves have another playoff team with a good chance at taking back the East.

As long as chipper stays healthy, McLouth keeps hitting and Freddi doesn't pull any Bobby Cox Gaffes.

I am slightly worried about our offense. It has the potential to be pretty good, but I'm afraid it could not meet expectations.. Nate and Chipper are hitting well, but who knows how they'll hit when the season actually starts. Especially for Nate.. We know Chipper can hit, but can he stay healthy day after day? Heyward is solid, but he could go into a sophomore slump. Gonzalez and Uggla can both hit for power, but they also tend to have low batting averages and plenty of strikeouts. Freeman shows signs of being a good hitter, but he also was batting below .200 last season after he got called up. I think Prado will be fine, but he had a great season last year, and I just hope he doesn't slip at all in 2011. The only guy I'm not concerned about is McCann because he is the leader of this team, and I think he'll have somewhat of a rebound season offensively. And, as always, we don't have very much speed, and won't be able to steal many bases. Now, these are just my worries. Like I said, this team has the potential to be pretty good, if everybody hits up to expectation. I just hope the new skipper can find a lineup that works.<div>
</div><div>Our pitching is solid. Yea, I'm worried about Jurrgens to, but if he can't deliver, I'm confident in some of younger guys to step up. I wish we still had Wagner to close, but I think we have plenty of arms in the pen to shut teams down at the end of games.</div><div>
</div><div>My only other concern is our defense. Hopefully, they've really been working on that this spring.</div><div>
</div><div>I think if we can hit, we'll be competitive with the Phils for the division title. They're going to be tough to beat because of their rotation, but I'd be fine with another wild-card birth.</div>

and gets rid of the 9 ER in 3.1 IP games he had last year. I'm cautiously optimistic about the Braves chances to win the wildcard, but they aren't going to beat the Phillies for the NL East.

they won't be able to stay with the phillies "aces"

i think their bullpen is most concerning area, just unproven... young talented guys, but can kimbriel shut it down in the 9th.

and hopefully he will get rid of the big blowup games. I know you like to cause random trouble but there is really no debate over it, the stats are there for everyone to see.<div>
</div><div>For example:</div><div>
</div><div>August 27th against Florida, 8 runs in 5 innings.</div><div>Just 27th 6 runs in 5 innings.</div><div>June 22nd 9 runs in 3.2 innings</div><div>May 20th 8 runs in 1.2 innings.</div><div>
</div><div>When he was good he was borderline great. When he was bad, he was absolutely horrible.</div><div>
</div>

but they may seriously struggle in the field and hitting. Where are they gonna get good production besides Victorino and Howard? Raul's stats dropped last year. They let Werth go. Utley will probably miss a lot of games with his knees. And I dont really see Rollins stepping up his game this year either. Polanco reinjured his already repaired shoulder. I don't think it's serious now but very well could playing several games a week.

What game was that where he gave up 6 runs in 5 innings on (i'm guessing "Just" = "June") 27? Also, I believe he only gave up 6 earnedagainst the MarlinsAugsut 27.It was hard for me to keep up with your errorsin those stats.

Spring training stats are worthless. Unless you believe that Melky Cabrera is going to hit .488 for Kansas City this year.

That said, I think the Braves will do pretty well this year. They may not be able to beat the Phillies- but there's always the wild card.

I win.<div>
</div><div>Hanson will be a top 5 pitcher if he gets rid of his 5 or 6 terrible games each year. I'm not asking for him to be Roy Halladay and pitch 6 or more innings every game, I'm just asking for no 9 run 13 hit games or 8 run 1.2 IP games. Maybe I had a typo in my previous stats, but only a tool like you would comment on the typo while ignoring the stats.</div><div>
</div><div>Again I win, try again later.</div><div>

say that the person bringing the facts wins over the person reverting to name calling, but that's just me. I'm sorry buddy, I didn't mean to get you all upset. I was just of the opinion that he was there and that 2 or 3 bad games doesn't mean he wasn't. Just a difference of opinion, I guess. I apologize again for getting you so mad, that wasn't my intention.</p>

McLouth's average past 3 years.<div>
</div><div>2009 Spring training - .293</div><div>2009 Season - .256</div><div>
</div><div>2010 Spring training - .118</div><div>2010 Season - .190</div><div>
</div><div>2011 Spring - .293 (41 ABs so far)</div><div>
</div><div>Spring training stats don't mean much but his hitting so far this spring is reason to be optimistic. I don't expect him to hit close to .290 during the season. I'll be happy if he goes for .260 average with 15-20 HRs. Just gotta have some production out of him.</div>
