San Diego really pouring it on 14-0. Jurjens had a terrible outing.

Haven't seen a lot of offense out of this club lately. Everyone still feeling wooly or has it been sheered?

Chipper appears to be injury prone again. He needs to move to first, and let Prado play 3rd. Infante at 2nd. Glaus can fill in as needed, but unless his bat gets hot he is adding nothing.

If I was the manager, my lineup would look like this:
Prado 3B
Heyward RF
Chipper 1B
McCann C
Escobar SS
Cabrera/McClouth CF
Infante 2B
Hinske LF
Pitcher

However, there are definitely some legitimate concerns with Glaus. He's looked overmatched way too often so far and has played ****** D to boot. JJ is going to be fine. Every pitcher has a night like tonight 3-4 times in the course of a season. Jojo continues being a 4A player. I bet he's shipped back to Triple A tomorrow.

But things like that happen when you play 162 games. The damage could have been limited, but Bobby decided to turn the game into a learning opportunity for the lovable Jo Jo Reyes, hopefully he learned that he will never belong on a major league roster.

I can't remember but maybe one decent outing he's ever had. The whole team is worrying my right now, except Heyward and Prado. Heyward is striking out alot, but as a rookie thats gonna happen. But Yunel is taking bad swings, McLouth looks horrid, Melky Cabrera looks bad at the plate, and Troy Glaus is a shell of what he was back with the Angels. Lowe has looked bad so far, Jair looked about as bad as I've ever seen him last night, and the team as a whole is striking out at an alarming rate. I know it's a little early, but the Phillies are rolling over these crappy teams they play at the beginning, and if we don't pick it up we are gonna be behind the eight ball early.

He's a lefty that can throw 95 mph - if you cut someone like that, you'd better be damn sure they're not going to pan out, especially when you are running short on left-handed pitching prospects in the entire organization. I agree that we're probably reaching the breaking point with JoJo, but I can understand why the Braves feel the need to give him 3rd, 4th, and 5th chances.

And for the team as a whole, the pitching should be fine and keep us in a lot of games. I think the whole season hinges on Glaus getting his **** together, and that's really the only thing that leaves me concerned this early.

I'm not the least bit surprised about Glaus.

Anyone else watch Tex with the Yankees, Salty and Andrus with the Rangers and just fight the urge to punch yourself in the face?

become the worst player in baseball. I've been horrified watching him so far this year. Why the hell didn't they pay LaRoche? Or maybe hire a gorilla from the Atlanta Zoo for the league minimum?

1. Tex is a Boras client. We couldn't afford him even if we wanted him.
2. Salty wasn't beating out McCann, who's the 2nd best catcher in the game. Trading him was the right move.
3. Like Salty & McCann, Andrus wasn't beating out Escobar at SS or Prado at 2B. So aGAIN, trade him and get something that helps you elsewhere.
4. The only reason we signed Glaus is Freddie Freeman. We needed a 1 year bridge player at 1B, and Glaus fit the bill. So I wouldn't call us a "retirement home for hitters" when we've gotten a lot younger and better on the whole over the last 3-4 seasons. Think about next year's lineup. We could be starting 7 position players all 30 or less. Chipper will easily be the oldest starter, and he can still hit. This year, he and Glaus are the only 2 old guy starters.

thus the concern, but really, the only reason to get worried about Lowe is if his sinker isn't sinking. Even when he gets in trouble with his control, if he can keep the ball down he usually limits the damage. GB/FB ratio this year is still above 2.

has pitched in 41 major league games (37 starts) and has yet to have a scoreless outing. Since '08 he is 3-13 with an ERA of 6.47 in 30 games (27 Starts).

but with those numbers I'm not even sure the Royals would give him the customary waiver claim that they usually afford every ATL reject.

but he avoided giving up runs. The bullpen is what has looked a little scary simply because Reyes is in there.
