I love this move, but even more since they did it the day after Bobby is officially retire. Don't mess around, and just go get the guy you want and give the team the opportunity to go in the offseason being certain of who the manager is. And since it's Fredi, most of the guys there should know how he is and what kind of club he wants to run since he's been there before and since he's managed in the same division. Great hire, and I'm glad the Braves didn't waste any time.

Get rd of TP and Wren. Release all the deadwood on the team, Lee, Ankiel Gonzales, Glaus, Melky. And get a real Batting Coach. PS if the Braves would've gone to the WS Ted might have bought the team.

Pendleton has almost acheived Ron Polk status. Thankful for what he did 20 years ago but damn you have screwed up the team in the last ten. I'd have liked you more when you left the team totally when you originally retired from baseball.

I've been saying this since he got injured, and this may be the opportunity for it to happen. The Braves have already said they want to keep him around in some capacity if he can't come back. How easy would this Braves transition be if Fredi becomes the head coach and Chipper becomes the hitting coach? I would be very happy with that.

Maybe a player-coach? Or maybe they hire someone as a stop-gap with the understanding that Chipper will get the job when he retires from playing, and Chipper will be working with players on their hitting in the mean time and the new hire is to work with him not against him? There was clearly tension this year, as in one game Chipper was in the broadcast booth and basically said TP was doing the wrong thing with Heyward.

Hell, Chipper's dad as hitting coach would be an improvement.

Former Brave Jim Presley was the hitting coach for Fredi Gonzalez in Florida. Don't be surprised if he gets the job.
