Avilan looked to be in serious pain. More serious than a strain/pull.

Not sure I've ever seen that kind of injury before from a pitcher.

You see knee, elbow, and shoulder stuff on pitches, but I've never seen a torn hamstring on a pitch before. That looked really bad and it did look like he tore it. He's got great stuff and I hate that we will most likely lose him for an extended period of time.

What is recovery time on torn hamstring?

They updated just before they went off the air.

Hamstring strain and severe cramping. No tear thank goodness on first evaluation. That looked really bad, but he will be re-evaluated in the morning. I'm hoping the cramping is what made the pain look so bad. If it's just a strain, he can come back. Hopefully nothing more serious than that.

That is great news.

Just to point this out

A strain, pull, and tear are all the same thing. You would think tear is the worst, but they all mean the same thing. It depends on the grade of the tear. Grade 1 is microtears and is obviously the least ominous. Grade 2 is worse with a palpable indention, and grade 3 is a full blown tear through the muscle.

I had a grade 2 to my right quad a few years ago. Took about 6 weeks till I was able to run and lift on it. But that was with miller lite and makers as medicine.
