Have now won 9 straight games. They've got 11.5 game lead with 51 games left. Big series with Nats starts Monday with both teams throwing best pitchers. As a brave fan, I'm happy with where the team is.

It was good to see Beachy have a few solid innings today. This team could be scary good by the time October rolls around. Just need BJ to actually hit, and need Minor or some other starter to become dominant.

Add Uggla in there in needing to hit too. He can be pencilled in with an 0-4 with two k's and a fly out with the best of them. Really can't believe he is our best available at second base.

And the team is getting zero love right now from the national media.

They are too worried about Biogenesis/A-Rod, the Dodgers 13 game road winning streak, and a bunch of other stuff. If you go look at the MLB page on ESPN, there is nothing about the Braves winning their 9th straight in a 12 inning game against a divisional opponent or the fact that we have an 11.5 game lead on the Nats.

We now have the 2nd best record in the NL and the 3rd best record in MLB. Guys like Johnson, Freeman, J Upton, and Heyward and hitting at ridiculous clips over the last 8 games and I don't see them stopping. This is as good of all around baseball as I've seen us play in years. Starting pitching has been good, bullpen has been excellent, and the offense is just in another realm. .330 BA with RISP in the last 8 games, clutch 2 out hitting, just everything is falling into place. I just hope this young starting rotation can stay strong and keep rolling like they have been.

The Braves are my second favorite team behind the Red Sox, but it does irritate me that they don't get any love from ESPN the way the northeastern and west coast teams do. That's just how the media works, they only care about the teams that have huge fan followings and drama queen players.

The lack of love for the braves started back in the late nineties. Pretty much everybody got tired of watching them dominate the regular season in such boring fashion. They have always been a very proffessional team that's just goes out every day and plays hard. Nothing about that is appealing to the media.

I am going to assume you don't watch many games. Uggla is one of the main reasons the braves have the lead that they do. Yes, he is only hittin around .200 but look at his on base percentage. The Guy is on quite a bit. He leads the team In homers and is top 2-3 in RBI. He hussles his butt off on every grounder he hits no matter the situation. He also plays a heck of a second base. I would love for his average to be about forty points higher but the Guy is extremely important to the team and does a lot of little and big things that help get W's.

Means very little unfortunately. Just another division title to put up a banner. If every Braves fan thinks they will hit like this in the postseason, they are foolish. Great pitching will be upon them in the playoffs and the bats will go cold. And losing the ace and great leader like Tim Hudson will haunt this team and keep them from making this anything but a division championship season. I've been a Braves fan since 1981, but realism prevails here. I hope I'm wrong.

Every analyst all year long has been pointing out that BJ Upton is not getting his front foot down in time. I'm sure timing is difficult and whatnot, but you'd think a pro worth his size of contract could get something like that straightened out by August.

I'm sure they'll keep playing him, but the lineup they'd been putting out since the All Star break was pretty special. Moving Johnson up to 5th or 6th leaves a black hole in the bottom third. Many a rally shall perish there.

Agree to some extent - they won't hit like they have the past two weeks, but the overall lineup is much better than any the Braves have put into the playoffs in a while.

Bj had one of the best 2nd halves in mlb last season. Hopefully he can get it going soon.

About uggla...you're right. He drove in the game winning RBI yesterday by really hustling (not common in mlb) to beat out dp.

I disagree about the Braves only winning the division.

We may have some hitting woes in the playoffs, but it's not like our staff is going to get blown up in the playoffs either. The Braves have given up the 2nd least runs in all of baseball, and that included Huddy who had one of his worst career ERAs before he got hurt, Maholm (Lord forgive me for speaking unkindly of an MSU guy) who had an ERA of 4.47 before he went on the DL, and Medlen who already has 10 losses and an ERA of 3.85.

Minor, Teheran, and most likely Medlen will show up in the playoffs, but our bullpen is downright nasty. 5 guys that can throw 95+ and can be used in any situation. Plus, I don't see this lineup going stone cold. We have too many good hitters in the middle to get shut down multiple games in a row. Heyward, J Upton, B Mac, Gattis (who I know has struggled of late), Freeman, Uggla, Johnson. No one wants to face that and those guys know it. I think it's the best team in the NL because it has a pitching staff like a National League team and a lineup/bench like an American League team.

Also, assuming we win the division, we miss the Cards in the 1st round. I think we have a very good chance of beating either of the teams in the central that win the wild card or the Dodgers, depending on where we finish in the NL race overall.

He does hustle and I do like that he never gives up and plays hard. But you have to admit you would cringe just a bit if it was bottom nine in game 7 and he was up to bat with two outs. We could all think of several other players we would rather see up there in that situation.

we'd cringe, but that's not his role. odds are he hits a 3-run bomb sometime in that 7 game series that is a game winner, and scores a few runs that series from being on base. that's his role. he's not worth his contract, but he's worth more than enough to not cut him.

I had bought into the line that our dependence on HRs was going to keep us from going very far. But what changed that for me is this team's ability to come from behind. The Braves are at or near the top in MLB in comeback wins.

I wouldn't cringe...uggla is quite clutch not to mention there's a good chance he'd find a way on. Other than that I agree with everything else.

This is the closest I've seen to a possible Braves/Red Sox series this late in the season since I left Springfield, Mass in '01.

That would be excellent. I'd also like braves-rangers. I'd really just like braves and anyone

The braves now have a 12.5 game lead over Nats. If the braves win 2 out of 3, this race is over. Bryce Harper made a comment that this race wasn't over. He better play well bc the Nats desperately need a sweep.

The Braves always make the playoffs. That's a boring story. The Dodgers, Pirates, Tigers, Rays, Red Sox and battle between the A's and Rangers are all much better stories right now. Don't feel too bad though the Cardinals aren't getting much love either and they have a damn good team.

Most of those teams I agree. Especially the Pirates, Dodgers, and Rays. I hope it stays that way and my Braves can keep a chip on their shoulder, going into the post season. It has been a while since we've made any noise in the PS. That's when we can should be wanting to get the attention anyways, not before. It's been a fun ride since the All Star Break, I hope it continues thru October.

Braves haven't win a playoff series in over a decade. I hope that changes this year. Historically (speaking from recent years), the braves are world beaters during the summer, then slip as september/October approaches. I don't want us to be peaking too early in the season.
