I reminded my nephews of that last night watching the game. Shai was our lowest ranked recruit that year I believe.
Yes lightly regarded vis-a-vis the other recruits .. He played in the old Derby Classic game and he was clearly the best player on the floor. Really surprised me to see how good he was!

I wonder how much this affects UK's pursuit of Anthony Thompson.

Maybe Pope wants to have a huge team next year filled with guys who can all shoot?

Thompson - 6'7" F
Williams - 6'8" F
Hawthorne - 6'8" F

That would be a helluva wing forward collection.

Just watched a full game of Huntington Express and I'll tell you one thing you're going to love this Hawthorne kid is a deadly three-point shooter. Like Almanor, when he shoots it you think it's going to go in. I think he's going to get some time on the floor especially if he adds some weight. he's also a four point student and well spoken kid. fans will love him

It's almost like he wanted to play for the greatest college basketball program of all time over and play with a bunch of great players who can elevate his game to another level.
IMO players don't care for/who "The Greatest College Program" of all time is- it has been a different era for a while now- show me the $$ and a quick path to the NBA- the 2 guys who went to Rutgers last yr is a great example

It might matter to a very few, but overall, I agree with you pretty much 100% ... and YES, it's been that way for quite a while now.

I think it all depends how well Hawthorne and Williams develops.

Probably we will not grab a SF in 26 class

This is what I think

No room for 3 good SF for playing time

That was what we thought before we got Braydon. It may not be Thompson or even a HS recruit, but ai would not be surprised to se us get a SF. A lot of that will be determined how the BH experience goes. If we can keep him happy and he shares a positive experience, who knows!
