Breaking: North Carolina exploring move to the SEC

It appears that the rumors that the SEC and B1G are going to 20 teams are true. The ACC is going to be the subject of the raids this time around.
Who else would we want? I assume Virginia or Virginia Tech. FSU and Clemson will prefer the SEC. Who are the other two? I assume two of Miami, Georgia Tech and Virginia would be targets of the B1G.
Cal and Stanford may end up back in the Pac.

I have always thought NC State and Virginia Tech would be good additions, but I think UNC and UVA are more likely.
I predict UNC, NC State, Clemson, and Florida State to the SEC.

Virginia Tech, Georgia Tech, Pittsburgh, Miami to the Big 12

I think the Big 6 of the ACC is going to leave together. 2 to the B1G, 4 to the SEC. That gives 20 to both conferences.

I would go get Duke and UNC. I think those two basketball programs carry more weight than any football program the SEC could realistically add.
I'll call it now, in 2030 at SEC MEDIA Days we will be picked to Finish #20.
I'd rather go back to 12 teams with 2 divisions. Even If Alabama was paying the big bucks to be the big dog.
Don't be surprised if it happens before 2030. There are at least 7-8 ACC schools that are attractive to the SEC & Big Ten (UNC, NC State, Virginia, Miami, FSU, & Clemson plus possibly Va Tech, Boston College, Syracuse, & Georgia Tech. The Big Ten might even take Duke, Cal, and Stanford. I assume that a majority of the conference could vote to disband.

Hopefully everyone understands this is just low hanging clickbait, but if the SEC could one team, UNC is who to go after.
When everyone is in the SEC… no one is.
Wildcard: Duke and Stanford join the Ivy League.
Wildercard: So do Vanderbilt and Northwestern, which leaves spots in the SEC and Big 10 for Virginia Tech and Miami, respectively, which leaves spots in the Big 12 for Syracuse and Louisville.
It must be summer. Rumors of ACC teams leaving for SEC or Big 10 that won’t happen for at least 5-8 years. Yawn.
There is no magic number for the SEC or Big 10. Each will add as many schools that can bring value as they can when the time comes. But that won’t be for several years.
And that’s why this isn’t anywhere near imminent. 5 years minimum & probably more.
At least 3 of those will get zero interest from SEC or Big 10, 6 if you count the last 3. They will never get the votes to disband. And could possibly face a huge lawsuit from ESPN even if they did.
The state of North Carolina is the first on the list of "if the SEC adds another state" and has been for a while. It's the biggest untapped population and the one that ESPN could grow the fan base the most year over year. So, if this rumor is true, it's both UNC and NC State. Without a doubt.
If the SEC gets to 20 teams, they need to break the teams into 2 sub-conferences. Put the 10 original together with the newer 10 in the other each with their own conference champion. Teams could have 1-2 cross-over games with the other sub-conference.
just divide the country by the Mississippi and everyone is in. Except Missourah.
Bama, UGA, UT, UT (the other one), LSU, UF, Aub, A&M, OM.
Those would be our 9.
Rumor is UNC and UVa are the two schools the SEC really wants. They bring prestige academically, expands the footprint and don’t rock the boat from a football perspective. I don’t want Clemson or FSU. The last thing we need is two more national championship caliber schools with an SEC budget.
All of this is just so 17-ed up!

The most ideal would be for the power conferences to merge into a 72-team super league, 8 divisions of 9 teams each (so we're kinda back to traditional rivals), and objective structure for playoffs, and ... maybe relegation where the last place team in each division plays another, and the 4 losers go down to the second tier and 4 teams come up every year. (Although I would have hated that last year.)
I think if we get to 20 it’ll be UNC, FSU, UVA, and Clemson. Gosh, I don’t want to go to 20 teams. I miss 12.
For most I would agree but Duke and UNC basketball are a rare exception where I would consider it.

Is the prestige of the Ivy League worth giving up big-time college sports? Vanderbilt already has an endowment comparable to the lower half of the Ivy League schools.
Would the Ivy League expand so much geographically? Or at all?
You don't even need to do that. Just crown a conference champ based on record, even if it's 2-3 teams. Let everyone get a chance to hang a banner.
All that matters is the playoff anyway.
ETA: But of course we'll end up doing the dumbest thing possible, which is have these play-in games, along with conference title games, which gives further chances for players to get worn down and hurt and less chance of the SEC winning a title.
