That would make a lot of sense based on what I am hearing. You might not be off mark on this one traveler.Originally posted by I-40 traveler:
Does the rumors involve Haywood County in any way?
Are you talking about Pursley or Chappell? I know Chappell is from Transylvania County and is close with Essenberg because he hired Dan on his staff at East Henderson when he wanted to come out of retirement, but Pursley just recently coached at Brevard College. I also saw Essenberg this season is an old Brevard Football jacket. Could it be?Originally posted by bamatide13:

Lippard just walked into a bad situation. Essenberg built Brevard by bringing consistency and a tough mentality that fit with the blue collar nature of the town prior to Ecusta closing. The numbers of the program are still fine but that blue collar identity, much like Canton is, has long left the town when the manufacturing left.Originally posted by owen98:
I hope so. I knew Lippard was a bad fit after I saw what he did this year.
Here is a thought. Drop your account. It's been a dumpster fire so far.Originally posted by W.I.R.:
Just a thought. Drop football
You probably have them their just not playing.A new coach might remedy that.Originally posted by brevard'04grad:
I don't think it will really matter what coach is hired. Brevard just doesn't seem to have the stable of athletes and talent that use to be there.
I've said it before and I'll say it again. Most teams in WNC have the same type of kids. Outside of Asheville, Roberson, Erwin and Reynolds - Brevard might come the closest. I know they did 20-30 years ago.Originally posted by brevard'04grad:

Why's that? I'd much rather try and rebuild in the WNCAC than in the SMC or WHC. Much tougher conferences, classification aside.Originally posted by W.I.R.:
I hear brevard could go 1a in the next realignment. .if thats the case I believe the job just got a whole lot more attractive
I'm going to go one step further, winning football is a culture. If you create the right culture, the attitude will follow.Originally posted by RadioCheck:

Winning football is an attitude.
If you don't have it, it wont matter who gets on the field. It is a 365 days a year thing too!
There's always been a rouge culture in East Flat Rock. I think he left because he got tired of trying to change it.Originally posted by wrs06:
I actually think it would be more accurate to say that Chapell left BECAUSE the culture changed. With the alleged rape case and the drug bust of the head of the youth program, the culture was pretty much busted as far as integrity goes.
Brevard's 2014 ADM is 739.Originally posted by brevards1:
Sadly staying 2a or going 1a isn't up to the school. This year I think we dropped below 700 kids so that would put us 1a territory.
Accoding to Chapell he left because Pisgah had better fan support and he wanted to coach in the Tuscola, Pisgah game.Originally posted by Thunder.Head:
