He’s the ultimate argument for fit matters. He basically won as much at ND as LSU. Les Miles and Coach O wouldn’t be able to stay bowl eligible at ND.
And the quality of the coaching pool is a shallow puddle at best.

Lane will be one of if not the highest paid coach in college football once this is all said and done. Will OM be able to give him what it takes? I say no but I guess we will see

He was definitely an odd fit there. Lane fits better than Florida. Of course Coach O was perfect for them especially in the nil era. Not sure who they wind up with but Kelly will end up back in the Midwest or northeast.
Kelly just seems like more of a big 10 guy for sure.
I think Kelly has peaked out, he seems to be a grumpy old coach now days.
I actually feel like Lane was tailor made for UF. He’s like this generation’s Spurrier in a lot of ways. Feels right.

Interesting that the morels clause suddenly becomes important the day after LSU got blown out by Texas A&M. If Im Kelly I say screw that. Pay me the $56M or I’ll see you in court.
I suspect it’s as simple as this. Kelly thinks he can make more than he’s giving up to get them to waive the offset provision.
