Brian Kelly, the winningest football coach in Notre Dame history, has been hired as the next head coach at LSU, where he has agreed to a 10-year, $95 million deal.

If Pry moves on to HC position, I would hope PSU would go hard after Marcus Freeman to replace him.

This is so wrong in my opinion. I've said it before that there should be a "dead" period where coaches cannot talk with other programs in-season. Imagine being an ND fan, sitting at 11-1 with a (slight) chance of making the playoffs for God's sake and your head coach is leaving. Or imagine being a player that busted your *** all year to be on the verge of making the playoffs and your coach is leaving. Even if he decides to stay and coach the bowl (or playoff) games, talk about a major distraction at the most important time of the year! Just wrong.
So following your theory does that mean a program cannot fire a coach mid season? Because you can’t have it just one way.

Sure. If that's the fair way to do it, then fine. If you want to fire a coach mid season, that means your season already fell apart. What's the difference if the coach sticks around for a few more losses? If we went 5-7 this year instead of 7-5, would anyone feel any different?
Your irenuse is flawed. It’s based on what a fan base “feels”. The business of CFB does not include how a fan base “feels”.
I know what you're saying but it's not just about fans. What about the players? I'd feel totally betrayed if I was a player loyal to a program on the verge of making the playoff and the rug was pulled out. Maybe I'm too much of a traditionalist wishing for days when players stayed at school for 4 years and coaches cared about developing people more than promoting themselves for the next high profile job or higher paycheck. I know, I know ...those days are gone.

As the son of an ND alumnus I can tell you this move probably has a great deal to do with HC duties to satisfy alumni base. ND alums expect their HC to be very accessible AND you have the higher academic standards. I doubt the lsu alumni base give a shiit if a player even attends class so long as the team wins.
If LSU is offering something comparable to what USC reportedly offered Riley, I don't blame Kelly. It's too much generational wealth to pass up.
Franklin should be attempting to poach ND, and OU lineman like NOW.

I would have to think Fickel wouldn't address going to ND until the playoff selection is finalized, then after they're done playing if they make the playoffs. But who knows these days.
If that's the way he left ND, he belongs in the SEC.
Maybe rumors of Fickel looking around will lead to Houston upsetting Cincy this weekend. That would crack open the door for ND to sneak into the playoff if a couple other upsets happen. It'd be a great soap opera this week if Kelly announces he's leaving, all those upsets happen, then Kelly doesn't coach ND in the playoff.

With all the drama and lack of GAF i could see OK St. and the GA - AL loser sneaking in ahead of Cincy and ND. A committee move not a fan move , this is why 8 or 16 teams in the playoffs is a must , less of this nonsense.
