Bridges likely going to MSU is largely in part because of Swanigan. If Caleb did not back out of his verbal, MSU would not have had a scholarship to offer Bridges.

LOL!

Whatever you have to tell yourself.

That is completely false.

If Swanigan was there and Bridges wanted to come, Izzo would find room for him.

You continue to amaze me with your comments.

Wow, just wow.

If Izzo didn't have a guaranteed scholarship and Cal did, Cal would probably have gotten him. Izzo would had to wait until after the season to see if Davis and/or Harris declared. If they didn't, he would have to convince some players to transfer for more PT, and that is a crapshoot as some players have gone on record and said they would ride the pine at MSU over start at any other program. It's the same issue they have now with Josh Jackson. I honestly don't think MSU would have gotten who they have gotten for the Class of 16 if they only had 3 scholarships to work with.

It would not have mattered for Bridges.

But yet they will not do it for Josh Jackson. He has an what I call an pending offer, meaning someone has to go before the can sign him obviously. If Harris or Davis do not declare, the likely guy to transfer out is Alvin Ellis and even that is iffy because he will be a senior next year.

Some coaches just don't do what you are implying.

You are so naive, it is not funny.

Why are you here, anyway?

Are you enjoying being able to gloat over a recruiting win?

Please just go back to your board and share some virtual high fives with your Sparty buds about keeping the hometown hero and stay off our board.

I use to root for your program when you didn't play us, but now I want you guys to lose every game because of fans like you.

You are a lousy ambassador for your school.

Yeah, no kiddin'. Where does everybody think this guy learned how to Crean? He was Izzo's right hand man for years.

This is all moot as concerns MSU. I'd be willing to bet money that MSU does not win a title with this class.

Well to be fair, it's unlikely Kentucky wins a title with their class either. Same with Duke and whatever they land.

Picking the field over 1 team isn't exactly going out on a limb.

I think the kid's twitter page probably tells the real story. I'm not sure he'd hype up the State trip the way he did on twitter unless he was planning on going there. We see recruits screwing with fans, but how many of them screw with their hometown fans? That and the fact that he moved up his commitment date right after the trip.

I think he came home, talked with his guardians about committing to State, and they persuaded him to wait two weeks before pulling the trigger, to see if there's any doubt left in his mind and make a non-emotional decision.

Kentucky is still in it, but I feel the kid's heart is telling him Michigan State. Izzo probably sold him on being a lottery pick regardless of what school he picks (not saying that's my view, as I don't view Bridges as a transcendent talent who is a sure-fire lottery guy), as well as playing with his buddies and being a hometown hero on a contending team.

I think it's 60/40 State right now. UK has an outside chance if somehow Bridges looks back at his initial reasons for loving Kentucky in the first place, and values those reasons above playing with a bunch of guys who look to be 4 year players (Langford being the lone exception). It will probably come down to whether Bridges trusts Izzo to get him into the lottery or not. If he does, I think Bridges is State bound, being that Izzo would have successfully negated Kentucky's major advantage.

Regardless of the number of years it takes them, there will be a good number of pros off that MSU team besides Bridges; ...Davis, Winston, Harris, Langford, and Valentine.

Not as many as Kentucky but how many do you really need on one team?

I'd bet the farm UK and Duke will make a title run with both of their classes.. We do almost yearly.. It's what we expect..

Helps when you have Mulder/Matthews coming back with some experience as well.

Everyone keeps talking like Matthews & Mulder are saviors...........& not many, if any have seen them play..........especially at this level

I sure as hell didn't say they were saviors and I haven't read anyone else say that either. I said it HELPS, as in we have two potentially good players with experience who can play the position next year.

Don't put words in my mouth.

I didn't see anyone say that. I don't think they'll be first team all Americans or anything. But I expect them to be reasonably decent enough to be fine manning the 3 if they're surrounded by Fox, Monk, SKJ and another top tier recruit.

Are you an MSU fan, or a Kentucky fan? Good God you are clueless lol. You don't turn down recruits like Josh Jackson, or Miles Bridges. Izzo has been recruiting Bridges for 4 years now. Swanigan has absolutely nothing to do with Bridges, and there is no way in hell that you actually think that Tom Izzo would turn down a commit from Josh Jackson. You make room for kids like that. It's simple.

You are 100% correct on one thing, Izzo wouldn't turn a (to borrow a word from this board) "transcendent" recruit like Josh Jackson down if he really wanted to commit to MSU, but at the same time he also wouldn't continue recruiting him hard once his roster of scholarships was full. It's just not Izzo's style to recruit that way knowing that he'll have to Crean players off his roster who aren't bad citizens and who are still working their asses off. It's both a blessing and a curse. A blessing because it shows his strong character, loyalty and values but a curse because he's still competing with other programs who have no shame in over-signing.

You can debate the subject till the cows come home but the fact of the matter remains, Tom Izzo has never once over-signed a recruiting class.

Yep, it's weird. That and the fact that we've finished 2nd for nearly all of them...

Xavier Henry - finished #2.
Shabaaz Muhammed - finished #2
Andrew Wiggins - finished #2
Kelly Oubre - finished #2
Stanley Johnson - finished #2
Justice Winslow - finished #3 or #4
Jaylen Brown - finished #2
Brandon Ingram - finished #2
Jonathan Isaac - finished #2
Jayson Tatum - finished #3
Miles Bridges - likely to finish 2nd

I'm more than okay with running a three guard offense, but it's strange how we can't get the pure three-man.

Glad you are okay with UK running a three guard offense. It sure makes me feel better and I am sure it makes Cal feel better.

Don't rub it in.

You know how it is to think you have someone picked away from the home team and then lose him...ahem... Caleb Swanigan ring a bell.

Ya'll had to feel pretty good when he committed, only to lose him because of his personal connection to Purdue. It's stings, but it's hard to get someone away from a school they have been around their whole life.

Congrats on Bridges, if you get him (looking good for ya'll).

Sorry, not trying to rub it in. You guys will simply land another 5 star and be fine.

Yeah, Swanigan's recruitment was so much drama. We are going to be alright without him though.

It's called a comment, with no other implications; but since you're obviously in the business of sarcastic, over-reactionary pomposity, by all means, proceed. Don't let me deter you from a full-on life pursuit of inflated responses to trivial points.

Sorry Cats, can't get em all. :cool2:

Dude....your fanbase doesn't even fill up your little arena every game. So, go back to the other 100 MSU fans that care. The rest are just ready for the next football game.

I hope Bridges doesn't think the atmosphere at the Oregon football game is any gauge at all for what to expect for basketball. My backyard has a better game atmosphere than a MSU basketball game.

Worked out real well for UCONN & DUKE the last 2 years. Throw in the NBA Golden State to boot.

I don't mind the MSU guys, honestly - one or two of them are kind of annoying, but for the most part, they're respectful and not overly emotional.

Plus, look - they're learning the lingo.

Good luck to MB wherever he ends up playing....UK will be fine...Calipari has a way of putting together teams and winning, so no worries. Bridges is an amazing player, but playing at home is hard to beat.,,

MSU basketball could never be mistaken for UK basketball but they do have a fan base.

If Jackson wants to come, he will be in East Lansing.

All Izzo has to do is tell him to wait until Spring, Harris will most likely opt for the draft if he has a decent season. I believe he will have his degree.

At least that is what a smart coach would do.
