What would have happened had they tried to pull Briscoe off of that flight?

The first compelling story was that Briscoe was originally scheduled to be on United flight 3411 from Chicago to Louisville. In case you have been under a rock, the forceful removal of a passenger from the plane has gained worldwide attention and the footage is downright horrifying.

Briscoe, who was delayed at Newark Airport and missed flight 3411, says there was no way he would have given up his seat if United randomly selected him to be “re-accommodated.” Could you imagine trying to go at Briscoe in an enclosed space? He has to be on the all-time UK “Don’t Mess with Me” squad.

NCAA would have come out in support of the airline reps enforcing the rules. ESPN would be concerned for the safety of said individuals because big meany weeny blue nation would be not so pleased.

Wait I don't follow.. He was in Newark but was supposed to be on a flight from Chicago to Louisville? And why Louisville? Wouldn't he be flying to Lexington?

1. Have you seen the movie your avatar is from?
2. United could have saved billions of dollars by simply putting their employees on a competitors flight to Louisville.

Fight Club is my favorite movie but if I was in that position I would have left without incident

You can argue about if they should have had those people leave but that does not excuse the dudes behavior to refuse to leave and dare the cops to arrest him

Actually, all they needed to do was to continue to raise their offer to any passengers willing to be bumped and eventually 4 people would have bit.

Honestly, it's pretty damned simple. I can't imagine the lack of intelligence involved with those who failed to understand how to handle this without incident.

It's astonishing that this solution was so blatantly obvious and they still f'ed it up. Literally just make them an offer they can't refuse. They seriously could have paid each of the 4 passengers a million bucks and still saved themselves several billions from what they are losing now.

Hold on, you think a guy who bought a ticket and boarded the plane, then was told he had to leave for no other reason than United's incompetence was in the wrong here? Okay. There are literally so many ways United could have resolved this problem that I don't even know how "calling the police and forcefully removing the passenger" was even an option.

That attitude is exactly how the power hungry take more and more. Be a sheep, comply, blah, blah, blah. At some point someone with a spine has to say ENOUGH. He didn't dare anyone about anything. He paid for a seat, he was assigned a seat, he was sitting in that seat. United has changed their rules so that no one is ever forced out of a seat again. All 3 security officers are on suspension during the investigation. The security officers bosses said they didn't follow protocol and the United CEO says the man was mistreated.

Out of all of that, you think he should have tucked his tail between his legs and complied? Ridiculous. Can we change your avatar to a door mat?

It wasn't lack of intelligence. The flight crew has been given unfettered power and they used it with unflinching arrogance. They knew exactly what they were doing. They were going to show him who was in charge. Now, thanks to that stubborn man, the entire industry is going to have to change what they do and more light is being shined on the arbitrary "bumping" practice.

So we actually think United is "losing billions" over this deal? Negative. Their stock price takes a hit for a week or two and they settle with the doctor. No one is "losing billions".

This is like Prius owners loving Fast and Furious. I not only wouldn't have left, I would have whipped the skinny cop, knocked up two stewardesses, and smoked half a pack of Newports on the way to Louisville.

BTW, United staff weren't allowed to go over the last offer of $800. I hope the doc gets Jeff Dunham money from this.

I don't know if it was just the flight to Louisville, but I flew United Out of Chicago to Paducah on 4/8.
While waiting for the flight I heard United offer $1000 and hotel for volunteers to give up seat on a flight to KC.
