Holmes is awful to watch play. Can’t imagine playing with him. Terrible collapse. 4 over already.

Shame Fowler started so bad. Really want him to get a major.

Spieth will never win again if he doesn’t figure out where fairways are.

Lowry going to coast?

It's not helping JB playing so slow. He needs to look at himself and make a serious change. Because he didn't always do this.

Well good for Lowry, the Irish story is cool I guess.

Had money on Brooke's so was rooting for him. Overall boring last day. It was clear who was going to win.

Agree it’s painful watching JB play. I don’t know what happened because he’s not always played so slow. Over thinking everything isn’t a good idea.

Koepka: "When it's your turn to hit, your glove is not on, then you start thinking about it. That's where the problem lies. It's not that he takes that long. He doesn't do anything until it's his turn. That's the frustrating part. But he's not the only one that does it out here."

Brooks is spot on with these comments.

Look, I’m the biggest JB fan out here, but why is he never ready to hit when it’s his turn? It’s inexcusable and frankly, embarrassing.

His putting routine is painfully slow, not to mention ineffective.

The very first hole today, after Brooks hit, they show Holmes standing there without a club in his hands. How is that possible?

Yep...and that's called "ready" golf.

I know JB made a total *** out of himself today, mostly because he shot an embarrassing 87 and took forever doing it.

However, he’s not the slowest player on tour.

Jason Day, Jordan Spieth, and Kevin Na are every bit as slow or slower than John is.

I’ll add DeChambeau to this list. (Credit to KRJ1975 for reminding me about him)

He actually played with JB the first two rounds at the Memorial when Bryson won in 2018. I always follow John there, and DeChambeau was noticeably slower. However, JB is still painfully slow and there’s little excuse for it. Especially since he’s played countless rounds there.

Na has gotten better. Dechambeau is slow AF too.

Spieth drives me nuts. I’m a huge Day fan but he’s also too slow. Maybe Stevie will speed him up.

Take them dam yardage and green slope books away, let them use a laser range finder and hit the dam ball. Give each player 45 seconds to hit once it is their turn to hit. Penalize individuals instead of putting the whole group on the clock.

This is absolutely exactly correct. Na has gotten faster, and DeChambeau is painfully slow. Good call.

Couldn’t agree more. I find myself agreeing with almost all of your posts.

If somebody’s gonna do it, it’s definitely going to be a (golf) head case like JB. He’s a great guy so I don’t want to disparage him too much, but damn, the PGA needs to address this.

If he IS a great guy, then he is unknowingly ruining the round for those around him, which means he’s a 2 digit IQ moron that is completely unaware of anything that is going on around him.

He’s a really nice dimwit I guess.

Perhaps a bit harsh, but I can understand and mostly agree with your take.

Yeah, it’s harsh, and it’s his job so I can understand taking your time with a shot, if that’s what helps you, but there is no excuse for at least not having the GD club you’ll need or your glove on.

It’s like the person that’s teeing off last in your foursome that watches the 3 people in front of him hit their tee shots and only then gets out of the cart.

Brooks made a point that no one with a brain can argue with. I’m paraphrasing here, but his point was he doesn’t understand when it’s your turn to hit that you don’t have your glove on, you haven’t already figured your yardage, and you act like you’re never seen the hole before.

It’s like being in line at McDonald’s for 10 minutes, and when it’s your turn to order, you decide to look up at the menu to order, and you don’t have your form of payment out of your wallet.

JB is the new slow play whipping boy and it’s hard to climb your way out in today’s social media world. Whether he’s playing fast or slow people will say he’s playing slow.

In his defense, the above video shows Koepka walking away as JB plumb bobs a 3 footer. But the plumb Bob was not why Koepka turned away. He was upset at a bogey he just made and if you watch the video JB hasn’t even gotten close to his plumb bob. When everyone on social media sees it they think big bad Brooks is pissed at slow play when in fact it was him being pissed at himself. Thus a great opportunity to pile on JB for slow play. (Now Koepka did make comments after the round about JB but the video was not a true example of him being upset)

It’s going to be hard for JB to get rid of slow play rep unless he stops the plumb bob and stops the getting up to shots and walking out of it to take a look and sometimes another. Also, he could stop the excessive practice swings.

Crane worked his way out of slow play, NA has but JB is going to have to change quite a bit more than those guys. He’s pretty much universally hated because he’s so slow.

You make some great points here, especially the social media nonsense. However, there’s no excuse for not having your glove on and your yardage figured out as your playing partner is playing his shot.

I’m as big a defender of John as anyone, but his act is starting to wear thin with me.

He does get singled out because he’s not a superstar, but, the fact is he’s painfully slow and mostly ineffective under pressure.

Also, it was a total bush league and dick move by him not to face the media after his abysmal 87.

If you’re going to shoot 66 on Thursday and answer questions, you better also do it when you shoot 87.

Spot on.

The fastest players I’ve seen in person are Daly, DJ, Matt Every, Lanny Wadkins, Trevino, and the fastest of all is Matt Jones.
