Told yah in my last post.. we"re going to trade an actual Arms dealer because this person is a ***** female WNBA player and we need to virtual signal at every chance we can.

The left and the media made this out to be way bigger of a deal than it should be.. and THAT'S why the right said "wait a second.."

As was said earlier, the trade is for the other American. Griner is being included because of her high profile.

High profile? She's a gay WNBA player. She's only high profile to begin with because of the left.

And why do I get these sense that even if this trade is really for the other american... that this really never gets done if not for BG?

We have a lot of treacherous anti American anti military anarchists in jail true but hear me out…..Griner didn’t rise up against the Union.
So we don't have to provide a speedy trial if you decide they are "bad" people? Does that work the other way if the government flips? If pubs lock up dem protesters without charges or a trial you'd be ok with that?

Just by doing a quick search or 2 it seems really likely that Whelan was over in Russia under the CIA and ******* around with them for us. Say want you want about BG but to get him and BG back for one arms dealer? Yeah that is a positive no matter how you slice it and it doesnt matter that "this wouldnt have been done if not for BG".

Because a liberal above tried to say we're not trading an arms dealer for a WNBA player... and we are. This has nothing to do with the other guy. And yes that matters.
So do you think this proposed trade is a good or a bad thing. Because all I know is if you put this on the ESPN trade machine the USA is getting a solid A- for it.

You mean Trump didn't get him out? Throughout this entire thread, we have heard repeatedly that if Trump was President, he would have already had Griner out. You mean he left a Govt. employee over there in prison? Say it ain't so.

International Arms Dealer Viktor Bout Convicted in New York of Terrorism Crimes

Bout Convicted on All Four Counts, Including Conspiring to Kill Americans and Conspiring to Provide Material Support to Terrorists

NEW YORK – International arms dealer Viktor Bout was found guilty today of conspiring to sell millions of dollars worth of weapons to the Fuerzas Armadas Revolucionarias de Colombia (FARC) – a designated foreign terrorist organization based in Colombia – to be used to kill Americans in Colombia, announced the Department of Justice.

“Today, one of the world’s most prolific arms dealers is being held accountable for his sordid past,” said Attorney General Eric Holder. “Viktor Bout’s arms trafficking activity and support of armed conflicts have been a source of concern around the globe for decades. Today, he faces the prospect of life in prison for his efforts to sell millions of dollars worth of weapons to terrorists for use in killing Americans."

“ As the evidence at trial showed, Viktor Bout was ready to sell a weapons arsenal that would be the envy of some small countries,” said U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York Preet Bharara. “He aimed to sell those weapons to terrorists for the purpose of killing Americans. With today’s swift verdict, justice has been done and a very dangerous man will be behind bars. I would like to acknowledge the extraordinary efforts of the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) agents who investigated this case on three different continents and helped to bring Viktor Bout to justice.”

Bout was arrested in Thailand in March 2008 based on a complaint filed in Manhattan federal court. He was subsequently charged in a four-count indictment in May 2008 and extradited to the Southern District of New York in November 2010. Bout was convicted today of conspiring to kill U.S. nationals; conspiring to kill U.S. officers and employees; conspiring to acquire and use anti-aircraft missiles; and conspiring to provide material support to a designated foreign terrorist organization. The three-week jury trial was presided over by U.S. District Judge Shira A. Scheindlin.

That sounds like your opinion as far as a trade grade. But whatever.

Not sure why this couldn't get done 6 months ago. That's my point. And I mean ****, did anyone even know who these other two trade pieces were back then?

I 100% agree that what she did was not a big deal, and Russia has dumb laws.. but I also know, and said, that this is far from the first time an athlete has been arrested and detained for breaking a foreign law.

Jeff Harper, who no one even knows of, spent like a year detained in China. And he only got out cause I believe they just let him out. There are several others too, but I forget their names.. why? Because no one made a big deal out of them.

If they are communist empathizers and anti American traitors why does their party affiliation matter?

Just read the last few posts, this Russian arms dealer has been in custody for fourteen years? Is that correct?

I guess I will read about it in the paper tomorrow, but was trying to confirm.

A bit OT, but just read "Red Notice". If you want to ever try to work with the Russians, you probably ought to read that book first. I bet you will decide not to.

Can confirm. I just put it in the trade machine and apparently it helps our cap situation for next year as well.

If it was important now, than it was important back then. Sounds like it wasn't a big deal for either of these two to be traded, likely because one is a freaking arms dealer.

No, I would not trade an arms dealer BACK to the country we are basically at a tipping point with.. so we can get back a ***** WNBA player. I mean, Russia is getting back something useful for them.. and were getting back someone who hates the US.. The U.S. loses twice.. Maybe if Russia throws in a few million or something..

I also don't believe in trading prisoners to begin with. ESPECIALLY when one is a legit high-profile criminal. I'd honestly be more OK if we just paid Russia off to get her back, so long as it's a fair amount. Like, I'd be fine if we handed them $1,000,000 for BG I guess.

You can spin that any way you want. I'm not the one offering an arms dealer back so I can get a political win for my fellow leftists.

This is like in Saving Private Ryan where the translator caves and lets the german go, only to have said German go and shoot more US soldiers. Do we not think this arms dealer won't get right back into the criminal world?

I think it is lost by some here that Whalen was very very likely a CIA agent of some sorts for us snooping around there. It’s not like he was a random US citizen either

They didn't seem to want to make that trade when they could (which honestly again.. I dont condone).

Let those two stay where they are for all I care.. and then the U.S. can start a gofundme to release BG.. should easily raise a few million, and we can hopefully buy her back from Russia.

Hand them back the idiot. The Russians can’t fight off mid major Ukraine much less keep this idiot out of prison. He steps on foreign turf again he’s getting packed up.

Not really applicable to you seeing how you aren’t a fan of prisoner swaps, but I think it’s backwards logic to not support something you might think is the right thing just because it wasn’t done sooner

And same goes for not even knowing about these two prisoners last week (therefore, not being for it), but being totally fine with it now, to secure your political win. It works both ways.

If money is to be spent, a GoFundMe is a great idea and way to save taxpayer money for a cannabis gaff. It also will judge how much the citizens care.

Bingo. Seems to be an awful lot of BG supporters.. I think they could get several millions for her return (which she should be home by now for such a silly "crime"), it doesn't cost the other half of the country a nickle, and we don't give back an arms dealer.

Everyone wins.

But my stance on it is that I don’t care who gets the “political wins”. I think that both (more so Whalen) need to be brought back and I believe it’s worth giving them back the arms dealer punk.
