Sure...officially they aren't communist. Communist ideology is still the foundation of their nation. Breaking into a government building....pissing on office floors.....breaking and taking ****.....and trying to overthrow the government....isn't the same as having 3/4 of a gram of weed in a cartridge.
So then you are a staunch supporter of a massive round up of BLM rioters that burned buildings (homes, businesses and police stations), caused billions in damage and directly murdered people. I think that was much more riotous than people taking selfies in the Capital. Do i agree they shouldnt have done it? Absolutely. But knowing that FBI people helped whip up the frenzy and capital cops moved barricades and opened doors for them, isnt as malicious as BLM by a factor of 100.

If the United States needs defending, I stand ready. Thanks.
So then what's stopping you now? Is it your preferred cults collective decision? Are you not allowed to stray and form your own objective opinion if it doesn't align with the masses? What is keeping you from being a free thinker? What is keeping you from defending America?

When did I say that? And I don't believe in conspiracy theories.

If you do something warranting jail time then you deserve jail time. In Griner's case based on Russian law her issue warrants a fine. Not imprisonment and hostage negotiations in order to release a terrorist back to them.

Calling it taking selfies is a joke.

Which Jesus? The Jesus in the Bible, or the American bastardization?

Conservatives give more food to the poor and distribute more food to the poor than any liberals I know. Are you one of the hypocrites that talk about the poor, but refuse to help them yourself, expecting the gov to do it for you? There's lots of those ....

You and this illustrator, like others here, need to read a book, before you comment on it in any way shape or form. If that trash is funny to you, you haven't read nor understand it.

J6 protesters have been in jail for over a year and most are charged with simple trespassing... a crime that normally gets a warning and not even a fine. Why you keep bringing up communist is confusing. Griner supported blm, an organization that openly promoted being communist. You are aware that russia isn't communist anymore aren't you?

He's not aware of anything. He's just got that fake "woke" stick up in there that he wags for virtue signaling

They've only been charged with trespassing. If you know something else you should call the fbi or doj. But there are 100's of Americans sitting in jail for over a year without a trial for simple trespassing. The fact you're more worried about Russia breaking an Americans rights and not our own government breaking the rights of 100's of citizens is pretty shocking. I bet you were tore up over the kid that got jailed in North Korea and you probably didn't bat an eye at George Floyd I'm guessing.

When as Americans did we become so cruel? Let that hate go brother.

Also some of you need to understand she isn't being held prisoner as a means of law and order. She's being held prisoner because she's American. Some of you are speaking on things you don't understand. Which seems to be a trend for those who are engulphed in political rhetoric and mindless "go team" party banter.
She broke a Russian law. If you're dumb enough to bring weed into another country, I have little sympathy for you. Her being anti-america on other things just adds more lolz to it.
If she was white, straight and tweeted crazy **** about the election being stolen, I bet y'all would be protesting in the streets about her being held captive.

No one deserves to be shackled like a mass murderer over a pot charge.
Nope. She broke a law.

I agree with laws that would not imprison Briner for having her hash oil. I want her to be freed, while understanding that I don’t get to create the laws and processes for other countries. It’s why other countries sometimes call us snobs. We think they should think just like us and act aghast when they don’t.

But, when it comes down to seeing a negotiation with our administration and Putin’s administration, it becomes troubling. Should we again give away terrorists who we know have and will again work to see death in our country for the basketball star who broke Russian law?

I for one am glad to see we're trading a bond-esque super villain literally named "the merchant of death" for someone that's the lowest level celebrity imaginable, that admitted to the crime,....all because of social media outcry.

I'm guessing the other American must be elated that he's getting thrown in as boot. If it weren't for the hashtag army fighting for griner, that guy would just rot away for life.

Thankfully griner will soon be home, where she can return to barely dunking basketballs and playing in front of empty arenas....and the merchant of death can go on living a reformed lawful retirement.

Again, this is what the people wanted. They wanted Uncle Joe Biden in the White House and we are not even halfway through his tenure and all we have gotten in return is awful inflation, gas prices, a disaster in Afghanistan, lies (thus far, it may happen) about canceling some of our student loan debt, and giving up a #1 seed ala 1996 UK for a 16 seed like Alabama Tech Poly University.

That is the equivalent of this trade to me...you have to make it somewhat equal. Most of us do not give a crap about Griner and she is not as important as keeping this terrorist guy off the streets IMO. Trade some lower level Russian guy for her...Biden and this administration are morons.

I just hope in 2024 we get some fresh blood. No one wants to see grumpier old men between Biden (rolled out in a wheel chair Weekend at Bernie's style) vs. Trump the Tyrant. I cannot stand either...I would trust my 33 year old brother to be president in 2024 over either, but he cannot run...yet two old as dirt aholes can do so. Our rules on the POTUS election are wack when it comes to age restrictions.

I would argue much moreso a citizen than you, who disagrees.

Can you provide a list of all countries who had their capitals physically overcome by unarmed citizens entering and overthrowing the powers that be? May be some, but I have never heard of them.

Never deal with a piece of **** like Putin.

he countered and America said no. If I were Joe, I’d just kill the Russian prisoners to send a statement. But we all know Joe will cave in. Probably have Putin send more money to Hunters bank acct like the Moscow oligarch gave Hunter millions

Being stupid don’t not make you lose your citizenship
Not sure what that means Ed, but she should pay a price. Fine her and give her 3-6 months of jail time in Russia and release her. Do not trade her for the arms dealer. That should not be an option at all. Biden is such an effing idiot. Griner should then move to another country as she doesn’t seem to appreciate the USA.

No but being a citizen and quasi celebrity doesn't equal a get out of jail free card either. Especially when that card requires us to give up the "merchant of death".

It wasn't like she's being sentenced to death or something. She did something incredibly stupid and we shouldn't burn diplomatic capital and assets to free someone on these facts.

I share some concerns with the posters who question prisoner exchanges because they may only encourage other states to charge Americans with crimes.

But I will say I am LOL at the posters who say "she broke the law" in Russia.

In Russia, the "law" is whatever Putin says it is, for Russian citizens as well as Americans, and anyone who believes different is FOS.

This is clearly not completely accurate. Griner knew the law. Admitted as much when she declared she packed in a rush and did not give proper attention. Cannabis is very popular in the NBA and WNBA (NFL, etc.). Many other U.S. and foreign players take their off-season to play in Russia. We must assume those players got the memo. In fact, I suspect Griner was well-briefed before she ever went to Russia. It’s not difficult. Our state department will advise travelers of such things. I imagine the WNBA, union, sports agents and, probably, representatives of the sponsoring oligarch did, as well. She evidently broke the law. That just does not seem debatable at this point.

And it wasn't some obscure law. It was something she'd probably be arrested for in the states too had someone checked hard enough to find the thc in her outgoing baggage

I have seen articles suggest this would not have ever happened if the WNBA paid more. What? As I understand it, that league is subsidized by the NBA and the pay that is currently offered could never be if not for profit sharing from the NBA. MANY basketball players of both sexes play overseas, because they want to make a living playing a game. The suggestion that the WNBA should pay more so that Griner would not have to play a global circuit is hogwash. [disclosure: I don’t give a rat’s *** about the WNBA - so, if WNBA fans want to pay a bunch more for their sport, have at it]

Some of y’all should really turn off your CNN, Fox, Newsmax and MSNBC.

Lots of parrots in here spouting dumb _____ wing talking points.

Also, Merchant of Death would be a good name for a metal album.
Extremely important to get your news from multiple sources nowadays and then try to sift it down to some semblance of truth on your own. Good luck.

Russia wants 9.5 years. Wow.

Obviously that's absurd for something so minuscule.. but you have to kind of laugh. Russia is doing this because all eyes are on them now and they can't back down. And why are all the eyes on BG and Russia? Because the left had to make a big stink about a Liberal, *****, Women's basketball player being arrested.

It's almost like.. they made this worse. Should have just pretended it was a straight white conservative.. or heck, even just a black male college player.. and this might not have turned into a nightmare for BG..
