That is the right call when it works, but that seems more like a road move than a home move. You have an offense. Tie the game and live to make another play at home.

This is kind of my train of thought. I was watching the game and was shocked he went for two.

Vanderbilt's offense isn't "great," so the chance of stopping them in the second OT was pretty decent. WKU scored on their possession in two plays, so they not only had the rhythm, but they would have turned right around and gotten the ball to start the second OT on top of it, having just scored. Just didn't make sense to me, but it's easy to coach from my living room. :)

It's public knowledge that he turned down overtures from better programs than UK at the end of last season. Don't understand why anyone thinks that anything has changed since then. Certainly, nothing better for UK to offer. Doesn't mean that the info is wrong but just that it's illogical.

I am not sure he turned down offers. I remember him saying he would not discuss offers until after the bowl. What offers did he actually receive?

WKU has lost to the one team on its schedule with a winning record and also lost to Vandy. Every other team it will face currently has a losing record, except a couple that are at .500 like WKU. If WKU ends the season with only 2 losses, why would we think that team was anything special or that Brohm is doing a good job sustaining what BP started there? Brohm is now playing with his own players. Recruiting is part of the battle in the SEC.

If his record counted last year, why would we ignore this year?

Which SEC teams offered Brohm last year? UGA? USC? Mizzou?

What SEC team offered Hugh Freeze prior to Ole Piss? Or what SEC offered Urban Meyer while at Bowling Green? Just because a coach hasn't gotten an SEC offer doesn't mean he's not an excellent coach. There's a lot of factors that play into that.

With that said, what scares me most about Brohm is his lack of HC experience. Would like to see him have a bit more seasoning before moving to the SEC. But then again, we are UK and if he gets seasoning, he'll have much better offers.

WKU is 2-2 and none of the teams left on their schedule currently have a winning record. Inevitably, once this season looks a little better for Brohm, someone will post here that the Hilltoppers are great and Brohm should be our next coach.

They play Middle Tenn in a couple of weeks. They are 3-1. Even my public school upbringing knows that's a winning record.

I missed that game. I knew Vandy beat them 47-23, or something like that, and made a faulty assumption about their record.

Are we calling MTSU a good football team?

No, I agree with you RonE. kypecos said Brohm got "better offers" than UK last year - I was trying to figure out which SEC teams offered him.

My neighbor next door has a friend who knows a guy that has a cousin whose girlfriends roommates mother works with this lady who has a friend that works in the WKU athletic department. Brohm is interested in the UK job if it comes open. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

What did BP rebuild there in one year? Taggart before him made the foundation from a 0-12 team.

"After the Commodores scored with time expiring in regulation and went ahead by a touchdown in overtime, WKU Head Coach Jeff Brohm faced a big decision: kick the extra point to extend the game, or go for the two-point conversion and the win.

He elected to go with the latter, and watched karma take over as redshirt junior quarterback Mike White’s pass deflected off of senior running back Ace Wales’ helmet giving Vanderbilt a 31-30 victory.

“I’m always aggressive but I just really felt once again … our defense was wearing down and it looked like they were going to be able to score at will at that point,” Brohm said. “Our defense had played great for three quarters and I thought we had a chance to win.”"

So Jeff Brohm, who is in the middle of a football season, is showing interest in jobs that aren't open? Not buying it.

And I'm also not buying that a family "friend" would spread that nonsense.

Some of you people are beyond ignorant. He's not discussing it now. My friend talks regularly to some of jeff's family who says he we would be interested IF the UK job came open. By the way, the Brohm's aren't as tight with ul as they used to be.

The only reason I originally posted this is because people kept throwing Brohm's name around should the job come open.

Because people make evaluations minute by minute. It's almost a guaranteed truth that last week someone on this site loved Brohm, decided on Saturday he was horrible because he lost to Vandy, and then will once again say he's awesome the next time he wins. Nature of internet fans.

I dunno ...

Howard, Bobby and Nick seemed to think he had some potential as a coach

http://www.al.com/alabamafootball/index.ssf/2016/09/the_time_wku_coach_jeff_brohm.html
From that article:

''In all reality, it basically came down to a simple question I asked myself, and that was, 'Do I want to help the University of Alabama win a national championship or do I want to help the University of Louisville win a national championship?''' Brohm told the Louisville Courier-Journal at the time. ''I felt the answer was easy, and I chose Louisville.''

So, Brohm turned down Nick Saban/Alabama for the same position at Louisville. Let that sink in. And he did so for one reason: loyalty/affection for the school. Can some of you at least see how some of us think if we did somehow get Brohm to be the coach, the first time there was an opening at Louisville there would be a real and substantial threat that he'd leave to take it? And then, think about how that would go over......

Some of those 2-2 teams are going to end up with winning records. So if they go undefeated they will have wins against teams above .500. I'd hold off judgement on how good of a team they are/were this year until after their bowl game.

Some is those 1-3 schools will have winning records because they play crap schedules and their toughest games are in their first 4.
