I'll take my crow with a side of cottage cheese. These kids and staff earned it. Congratulations.

Rice lines won this game and that #31 is a lock down corner.

We just got plain beat tonight. Congrats to BR!

On to the playoffs for Montini. Time.to regroup and refocus for the 2nd season.

Also that fireworks display after the national anthem was tremendous! It must have lasted about 5 minutes. A couple of the speakers on the sound system were not working like usual. Have to get them checked out.

That was old school catholic league football at its finest. Great run o and great D
Coach Mitch is watching from above smiling.
I think fireworks and Disney music really worked against montini, they should retire those antics. Bush league moves

Looks like Rice is the class of the Blue and a real contender to Beast. Is there a team in 5A that can hang with Montini?

I agree ... reminds me of Hubbard with their smoke and pizzazz as the team was introduced. Plus, where does a Catholic school get $$ for fireworks? Reconcile that with your fund raising.

How can anyone be opposed to fireworks?

ignazio:

I agree. I mean, J-Effing-C............................it was not an offensive ritual.

The same people who bellyache about the harmless snap, crackle, and pop of fireworks to celebrate a significant high school football game tend to be same the types cheering when some long-haired, maggot-infested, tie-dyed-shirt-wearing lowlife, leftover flowerchild burns the American flag in some public square.

I hadn't visited Montini since the school hosted LA in 2010, but I enjoyed the fireworks quite a bit. It struck the crowd and was an excellent way to open a game which was essentially the CCL title game.

Despite the final score, I did think MCHS' defense played well. Had it not been for MCHS putting the ball on the ground on its two-yard line in the second quarter and giving up an easy score, I think the game could have slogged on and been much closer. This turnover was devastating to the Broncos.

What surprised me was the absence of a sound passing game from MCHS' offense. Over the past decade, Montini has showcased a satiny passing attack, which featured often three burning wideouts. I understand the offense changed with the coaching transition, but was surprised with Montini's dependence on the ground game. It certainly contrasted to the offenses which produced so many victories.

I anticipate Montini advancing deeply in the 5A playoffs and would not be surprised if they reach the title game.

Each to its own, but as been stated on this forum and is widely acknowledged, football numbers are down. Further Catholic Schools have to get kids in the door.

Obviously times have changed, all Montini tried to do was make last nights football game with BR, and the pregame activities, an event that kids would like to be a part of. It's that simple.

MWittman,

I think since Montini went to the Blue they really concentrated on running the football and stopping the run and it's been working until the BR game. I think the strength of BR is their D line which had us by at least 40 pounds a man and their linebackers which made it tough to run the ball. They do have good wide receivers but the BR defense did a great job on them last night.

I would like to see them use Harris more at WR in the playoffs and also get Bufkin involved on the offensive sIde of the ball in the slot and try to find him in space one on one against the defense. He could be a big threat on offense.

Overall on offense I would like to see Montini spread the ball around more and create more offensive packages and plays to fit the teams strength to use in the playoffs (Maybe having Brazziel, Bell and Fedanzo on the field at the same time, would Fedanzo ever be needed if the opponents have the ball in the red zone, change of pace or tempo on offense like BR etc)

Nothing wrong with pregame festivals but when you piggy back it off Disney music during warms up, montini players talking incredible amount of smack directly to rice players on social media throughout the week and more then a few cheat shots during the game.
It's going to be taken as motivation for visiting team. Rice took an incredible amount of pride pounding the ball even when montini put 9/10 in the box with no safety.
Hello and good bye to CCL blue
Bring back the north and south division

I really don't care for the Disney stuff so I agree with you there. I wish they would get rid of it. It was funny the first time they did it but I now don't like it.

But the fireworks you have to admit were tremendous!

Well, they'd better hurry up before that right is taken away, as well. Maybe that hippie has a brother who was shot for no reason by the ...oh well, I can' go there. Maybe his right to vote was ... ...no, not that, either. Perhaps a
TV preacher or some bishop has taken him to a dark ... no, stop.

Dude ease up on the Tie-Dye-Shirt stuff. I manage the largest Tie Dye Producing Co in the USA. We produce about 30,000 daily. That’s a lot of hippies my friend. Lol
