Please keep RU's legendary play-by-play announcer in your thoughts and prayers.
Same here. I always liked listening to Bruce on the radio.hoping for best
You mean "left to right on your radio dial?"Same here. I always liked listening to Bruce on the radio.
Bingo! To all of RU fans of a certain age, Bruce will always be the voice of RU athletics. A lot games in those days were only on radio, so we all listened to him. Plus, he taught you can see the end of the world from Olean NY.
Mulcahy doesn’t get a free pass. He was the athletic director. He should have told Greg leave Bruce alone for hoops. Bruce bled RU red. Karma came around. Not Bob’s best moment either and equally at fault.Agree. Schiano did him a disservice by replacing him. One of his few big mistakes during the 1.0 tenure.
It was KMac as much as anybody responsible for Bruce's departure, especially from basketball. Backstabbing weaselMulcahy doesn’t get a free pass. He was the athletic director. Number 2 to Tony Murano, but point takenHe will always be the number 1 voice of Rutgers sports.
Doesn’t AD have final say? If Schiano had the final say on football decisions and K Mac controlled hoops what exactly was Bob’s responsibility? Would have been nice if he showed some backbone. It was KMac as much as anybody responsible for Bruce's departure, especially from basketball. Backstabbing weasel
They threw Carlin in for some more misery first. And Jerry has been there since the beginning of Pike’s build. It would’ve been cool to bring Bruce back for some guest calls during this recent run. Bruce - get better so we can do that, okay?I like Jerry Recco but its feels like Bruce put in his time during so many bad years and it was pulled from him right before the payoff
Rutgers legend
Bruce was kind enough to introduce our bridal party at my wedding back in 2009 as a starting 5! It was such a thrill to have him there, and I consider him a valued friend to this day.
Many prayers to Bruce as he battles back!
“To the line, to the lane, and up and in!”You mean "left to right on your radio dial?"
Prayers up for Bruce.
I’m not sure if it has been posted already, but, “Bending, bending, bending…”“To the line, to the lane, and up and in!”
Are you sure it wasn't ...looking..... looking...... looking...... when they were trying to inbound.I’m not sure if it has been posted already, but, “Bending, bending, bending…”
Second to John from South Brunswick to tell is how bad at everything Rutgers is.The first comments go to Skip from Elizabeth of course. $$$$
he would have had a field day with Paul MulcahyAre you sure it wasn't ...looking..... looking...... looking...... when they were trying to inbound.
I never knew that. That's freaking awesome!Bruce was kind enough to introduce our bridal party at my wedding back in 2009 as a starting 5! It was such a thrill to have him there, and I consider him a valued friend to this day.
I liked Bruce but Carlin is a big step up from him and has national reach if we are being honest here.I never knew that. That's freaking awesome!
I like Carlin a lot and I understand why Schiano made the move. But all of us in our 50s and 60s love Bruce. As has been stated, radio was our only option for most games in those days and he did a great job. Dick Lloyd for hoops and Richie Policastro for football were also great doing color.
Tony was from an era when Rutgers radio basically only reached Central Jersey. Bruce was from the WOR era when the signal reached a much wider audience, and the teams played tougher schedules.Number 2 to Tony Murano, but point taken
True but doesn't change how Tony invented the genre.Tony was from an era when Rutgers radio basically only reached Central Jersey. Bruce was from the WOR era when the signal reached a much wider audience, and the teams played tougher schedules.
Schiano didn’t replace Bruce with Carlin . It was Tom McCarthy.I never knew that. That's freaking awesome!
