Didn't see that coming. A few board folks (myself included) had him on UK's radar when Cal departed.

Very surprising. I guess after not getting it done with his best team last year he realizes it’s not gonna happen. Hopefully that’s it and not health. I always liked Bruce. Never looked at him as a cheater just because he cooked a couple burgers with a recruit.
There has been speculation that he is preparing for a run at political office.
He’ll probably be entering politics. He’s been very vocal on X about what he believes atrocities against Israel
Smart move. Ensures his son gets first shot and players are stuck for the year.
Scumbag move. Ensures that players are screwed and stuck player for a coach that they didn’t commit to, and forces Auburn into a nepo hire for an undeserving coach.

Poor timing on his part. Doubt this timing will win him a ton of AU basketball fan votes. That said, they love him down there so he may win.
There goes Auburn basketball! I was very vocal about wanting Pearl as HC here. I’d think he would have had more shelf life here but glad we dodged having his son take over someday!
Coach Pearl's heart has been in politics for sometime. The Alabama Senator, Tommy Tuberville, is leaving the Senate to run for Governor in Alabama. That leaves the door wide open for Coach Pearl.

Agreed with both of these. Smart on his part. Trying to take care of his son. But it's also shady and scummy. He knew they wouldn't give Steven the job, but even if they did the players would bolt.
In this case I would be ok with allowing the players to transfer if they wanted to. Also be able to transfer and keep all their promised NIL. I would be upset if my son committed to him and he left a month before the season starts.
The KSR story says, "a 30-day transfer portal window will open for Auburn on Tuesday."
Technically they could lose their entire roster, although I'm sure the Pearls ensured all (most) players are on board in advance of this announcement. At least you would think so.

Can't do anything but help us and it wouldn't surprise me if he got caught cheating again even though it's practically impossible now. Glad he's gone
Has tremendous experience. He worked as a medical sales representative before dad hired him. Can probably get them a good deal on some medical equipment.
From what I have seen Steven was involved with getting many of these players to Auburn so would be surprised if any took off.
He's done playing games and is going to try and make a difference in politics. Auburn will likely begin to slide back into the "plenty of SEC tournament tickets available" zone.
Bruce was a good coach but I just don’t see why some of our fans loved him so much. Glad he didn’t come here and done the same to us.
Wow you guys are fast. Yeah, I know it’s not a popular opinion around here due to his personal choices, but I liked him as a coach.
Forgot about this. I think I remember the same thing last season when Bennett quit. Roughly same timing, IIRC. The big thing is, most rosters are set and money is spent. Or at least I remember that being talked about in UVAs case.
Liked him, but ppl on here became obsessed could do something here even tho he had a 35% win percentage against calipari here
Does UK have a roster spot? Wouldn’t mind adding Elijah Freeman. He could take the year to adapt to SEC play and be a solid contributor in Jr. year!
Nothing to do with cheating. He has been considering a run for Senator to replace Tuberville. Nice reach though.
Has to help us with Caleb Holt...Bama is the favorite but we probably take Auburn's spot as 2nd on his list of favorites right behind Bama
