I don't think Pearl has the qualifications to coach there. No sexual misconduct on his resume. He knows how to cheat, but he lacks the proficiency expected of a true tard leader.

I don't think second chance u can afford to hire a stinky sweat hog who cheated and lied like he did. This second chance stuff is to risky for them to go down that path, Auburn don't care what happens to their basketball program, UL will have to change their ways now.
No one that cares about basketball is going to hire someone with a show cause on their record.
Pearl isn't a good enough coach to win a title. But, he would be competitive, that's for sure.
Oddly enough all the things Pearl did would be legal today other than his attempted coverup and lying to the NCAA. Right now they could really use a coach with some experience in that area.
Pearl is a much better coach than many on here give him credit for.

Don't fool yourself ..Pearl is with out a doubt "good enough" to win a title..He took TN to #1 in the country so id say that's good enough...He would kill it at UL...imo..Had he not got in trouble at UT i would want him here if Cal moved on...I think he's that good..
I mentioned this in a thread I just started, but the homerun for them would be Kenny Payne. Question is would Payne leave cal and uk to return back to Louisville? Payne will be offered jobs this offseason
I think he's overrated. Approaching 60, 0 final fours, and he's had time to do it. The excuse of "he's never had a baskrtball school" is just that, an excuse. It's of his own doing anyway. When you're a known pathological liar, a cheat, a fraud, and a snitch, don't be suprised when the cream of the crop isn't interested. In contrast, Cal had a final four in his thirties.
He's a great motivator, an average recruiter, and an OK floor coach. His high school flex motion offenses at Tennesse were extremely overrated at the time.
He's not going to Lousiville because Lousiville can't afford the reputation hit Pearl would bring. You can't fire or remove Pitino and bring in king POS. I know it's fun pretending Lousiville wouldn't care, and I get it, but even they can't do it. Even Tennessee wouldn't rehire him. There's a reason he's at Auburn, one of the worst basketball schools in America.

I don't think it's an attractive job to high profile coaches. You have to not only compete in the shadow of UK, but you've got to also compete against Duke and UNC, with probable probation looming, and you've got to follow Pitino(I know, but still).

Yes there is, but it has nothing to do with his coaching.
People can dislike him for his lying to the NCAA or his Illinois snitching incident but the guy has a 73% winning percentage in D1 and has beaten highly ranked teams, been to 4 S16's and and Elite 8.
I like how some in our fan base act as if Bruce Pearl is a coaching legend. He didnt win a title with Tennessee so why would he win a title with UL? i mean both are football schools. and He was ranked in the top 10 a few times at UT with some pretty talented teams...
There is no way he would be as successful as Pitino has been. In the Calipari era Louisville is 3 games behind us as having the most wins, 2nd behind us in tournament wins, and second behind us in final fours. Granted he's been there 13 or so years but does have 3 final fours and a title. Even though I think Pearl would kill it at Louisville, I don't think he would be nearly as good as Pitino. If he did not have his shady past, and Louisville did hire him I think it would be a home run hire for them.
I never said he was a legend or a title contender.
That said, UT has never won a title.
2 S16's and an Elite 8 are very good for his time there and what he had to work with.
He has beaten us enough with lesser teams.
He is on his fourth job - he took the other 3 schools to heights they had never been before.
The fact that someone can look at his resume and not call him a quality basketball coach doesnt make sense.

Already been hearing rumors of Scott Drew to UL. Nothing more than rumors but I would not be surprised.
And you know what? Most UK fans would have no problem with Payne going to UL. Unlike Pitino IMHO most fans would understand. That being said, I don't think UL hires a coach that has never been a head coach.
Bingo, I think Pearl would be a nightmare at UL. Regardless of any opinions on here, Pearl can coach and has proven it everywhere he's been. Pearl at UL where he can recruit using the "come play in the ACC" line would be a nightmare. I'd rather UL get Sean Miller than to get Pearl.
