This by Brusier from NAFOOM..............

You won the SEC West with 2 losses, including one by 5 TDs to a division opponent, and including a clincher where the potential game winning FG went right over top of the upright no good.

So it was no good? I've heard it all now.

about that? was there some thread on our winning the west and going to atl? i love how every time we do something, those clowns on there say it was luck and that the only reason we won was bc the other team 17'd up. newsflash morons. i could give 2 ***** how we win, as long as we do.

I wouldn't say luck went all into that, it's called getting the job done *****. Surprised to see something so idiotic from him, usually one of the more level-headed rebs.

can someone explain to me how losing a coin flip and being the visiting team AT YOUR HOME FIELD WITH 10k OF YOUR OWN FANS can be considered bad luck? The last time I checked, both teams had at least 27 outs to score more runs than the other team. Does UVA batting last give them some sort of advantage this dumbass can't comprehend?

is that you get the last at bat. You can get a walk-off win. If your the visitor, you have to get the last three outs to win, that's the advantage.

That said, I'm not surprised, he also said that our 2007 season was all luck to.

Thats all psychological to me. There still isn't any tangible advantage. Home team had 27 outs to put up more runs than the visitor. If they do they win if they don't they lose. Batting last doesn't do anything to assist with scoring more runs. I think it's just leftover hype from the little league days. You could flip it around as well. If you are visitor and fortunate enough to have to play the bottom half if the 9th...couldn't you argue that you are at advantage since the home team has to 'play from behind'. I guess when your team has the tendency to choke in the postseason every year, little things like that will get to you.

especially since his team will have home field advantage in the stands, no matter what.

I guess it depends on your pitching staff, though. If you have a lights out closer, it's not going to matter much.

The way I look at it, I'd rather have a chance to win it than a chance to blow it in the ninth. But at the same time, I'm not going to get overly upset because my team would have to get the last three outs. And to me, it's more of a formality than anything- someone has to bat first and last, and there has to be a way to decide that. The NFL does it with a coin flip. Baseball does it with who the home and visitors are. The other reason to not get worked up over this is because if your the visiting team, you get a chance to score first and get a lead before you even take the field.

There are advantages to both, and yes, you can turn it around and that's why you very rarely hear people talk about it or get worked up over it.
