I am amazed at the number of people that bunt w/ a bat parallel to the ground. We were taught you hold the bat at about a 45 degree angle from parallel to the ground. There is no way that you will ever pop the ball up if its done like that. With the bat parallel its either going to be popped up or go straight down unless the ball hits the bat perfectly.

I went to a baseball camp and we spent almost a half day on nothing but bunting w/ this guy instructing. He was the initial inventor of the baseball tee.

We were taught to square all the way around with bat level on sac bunts in HS. Use legs to move to the ball not arms. Probably not correct but that S never happened and while we didn't see that kind of velo we did routinely see high 80s and low 90s back in the day.

One of the more stupid things that happened was our 2 hole walked out of the dugout pre-game while 2 knuckleheads were throwing to each other in front of the dugout. Broke nose blood everywhere. Worked out in the long run as he ended up with a 10 year MLB/AAA career.

Same exact thing happened to me back when I was coaching my sons 10yr old team and trying to teach them how to bunt.
That's not a fun place to be!
The obvious difference is that the ball that hit me was going about 45mph......this one was at least 85+.....yikes!
That will change your motivation!

Everybody acts like football is so violent. I've always wondered why we sat up there in a batter's box with a baseball flying toward us at high speed.
