"The five-star quarterback flipped to local Michigan, which was by all accounts offering an NIL package in the range of $10 million."

This is the real issue because this kind of investment isn’t happening at Louisville. Not to mention how much they will spend on the rest of their roster.

Yep it’s why my interest in college sports is diminishing. I have the Steelers and if I’m going to watch paid players it will be a more structured pro league. Oh I’ll follow the Cards as always and will still attend games because it’s a fun outing with my son and daughter and grandkids. But have lowered my expectations greatly

I don’t mind the money. I don’t like players having all the leverage. To me that is the main issue with NIL. Louisville was never outspending or out recruiting the brands.

We need contracts in CFB. Period.
Need a salary cap too.

NIL waa intended for kids to make money off advertising and merchandise, not just handed money for a salary. All this money should have to be justified for Name, Image, and Likeness. If they're getting paid, it can't be for play, meaning, they should have commitments they have to keep to get the money. In other words it's not just, hey come here and play and we give you $10 mil..

But the genie is out of the bottle now, going to be hard to stuff her back in there now.

I saw Shough in a local attorney commercial and he’s been the only player I’ve seen in a advertisement for UofL

We were never getting the 10M $ man anyway so who cares. Let these top guys rotate their destinations this loosens the Kung Fu grip the Alabamas had on the sport.

These transactions could also come with a # of real problems for the winners of their services to actually deal with.

Without NIL and portal JB may have been stuck with an awful roster. Fans having sads on 10 and 7 win seasons could be cutting their wrists if the program was going through losing seasons.

We can’t hate NIL but if you want to have a competitive team it is a necessary evil.
