Last night at the state games, Keene had 5 rbis from a grand slam, double, single, and also stole a base. Keene is to visit msu next week. Is he one of our top targets? He also has been playing travel ball with anthony alford.

Keene is one of the best athletes in the MAIS. He is 6'3" 190lbs with good speed and can hit for power. He would fit In good in our OF. He is the type of in state recruit we can't lose to Southern Miss. If he is comparable to Mahtook offer him and get him to Starkville.

He is a USM fan. We are looking at him, and think there is a good chance that we will offer him. I say "think" because we can't offer anyone until July 1.

Personally, I think it will be hard to keep him away from USM.

I don't know about comparing him to Mikie Mahtook though.

his speed, long frame, as well being to hit for power and average, not that they are on the same skill level.

is what we are going to sell to him. I hate to play Devil's Advocate here, but C-USA is a pretty good baseball conference. Now, I don't think's it's almost on par with the SEC like Rick Cleveland tried to sell a month ago, but it's better than a lot- I would say it is about like the Big East in football. It's top heavy- but teams like USM, Rice, Tulane, Houston, East Carolina, Central Florida and probably in a year or so UAB are all pretty respectable. I think Memphis could be a sleeping giant if they got the right coach.

And the Sun Belt is pretty strong for a mid major conference for that matter.
