Not.

Schollmaier Arena, which had 4,739 people see the first loss in the building following a $72 million renovation and two non-conference wins last month. - See more at: http://www.wvgazettemail.com/sports/20160104/no-17-wvu-wins-on-the-road-at-tcu#sthash.nvmF6aky.dpuf

Yeah, I know...week night, students on break. But...

Fort Worth is the 16th-largest city in the United States and the fifth-largest city in the state of Texas.[7] The city is located in North Central Texas and covers nearly 350 square miles (910 km2) in Tarrant, Denton, Parker, and Wise counties—serving as the seat for Tarrant County. According to the 2014 census estimates, Fort Worth has a population of 812,238.[3] The city is the second-largest in the Dallas–Fort Worth–Arlington metropolitan area.

This must be what you call a "football school."

Trust that the 'shiny shoes' somewhere are making $$$ offen the TCU sports program. It is hard to see to whom and where the ca$h trail leads sometimes.

TCU obviously isn't known for their basketball program but I do believe they're getting better. And having lived in DFW right after TCU and WVU joined the conference there's just not an interest. I've only been to that arena one time when it was packed to the walls and that's when they played a BYU with Jimmer Ferdette. And right now you just have better options to watch better basketball in the Metroplex. You have the Mavs(Dallas and UTA) and SMU. I think once they start getting some conference wins under their belt, you'll start to see them fill it up if and when their relevant.

With the exception of Baylor, the Texas schools have usually had small and unenthusiastic crowds when we have played down there. Even Texas would have a lot of empty seats and the ones there mostly sitting on their hands. Kansas and ISU are great home courts, the other non-Texas schools are all pretty loud and pretty full, but Texas is obviously a college football state first, second and third.

According to Wiki the capacity post-renovation is only 7201, so 4739 would be way over half full. It didn't even look 1/3 full. Even the best seats behind the scorer's table and the benches were mostly empty and WE had more people behind our bench than TCU did.

They just need to win some games. Do they have any recent history? When the SWC went separate ways, they had nothing in football. That has changed. Become relevant. Easier said than done, but that's what they need to do. The arena looked nice on TV despite empty seats. Looks like they did a nice job with it.

I think UT supports their BB programs, but my late father-in-law preferred the Lady Longhorns for his season tickets. He said he thought the team was more relate-able and of course some of the player were way better looking.

He was an OSU grad, BTW, living in Texas most of his life. Pretty good for a Southsider, Go White Sox!

Another thing with TCU in both football and basketball, is just because there's millions of people in Fort Worth, doesn't mean they have a reason to cheer for TCU. It's a small, very expensive private school. If none of your family ever went there, why would you cheer for them? UT, OU, and TTech grads dominate the Metroplex.

Along with A&M and Baylor grads.
