best actual road trip to see the Dogs play? Toss up for me. Would have be the '92 trip to Austin to see us kick the Horns *** 28-10. They hated us and Jackie Wayne bad before the game because we beat them the year before in Starkville and, well, because he was Jackie and A&M as far as they were concerned. The next favorite would be the Oregon trip in '02 (except for Tiregate and getting our asses handed to us). We crammed into 4 days lots of micro beers, whitewater rafting, wineries, and golf. Plus, we had all those great friends we met visit and stay w/ us the next year in Starville**

Even though we lost - South Carolina 2001 is my favorite SEC town outside of Baton Rouge. Never been to Athens though.

Agreed.

Colombia was a nice surprise. Gainesville was a huge disappointment. Oregon was fun getting to visit Portland and go on a wineries tour.

I really have enjoyed Tuscaloosa to be quite honest. Not much of a road trip but night games in that Stadium are special.

LSU is always an interesting trip. Had some experiences there I wouldn't want to relive but for the most part thats what SEC road trips can be about.

Athens is awesome. Great place to spend a weekend period but mix in some football and you have a bucket list level experience.

98' in ATL for the Ship was the best trip though. We may never get to go back but the energy aroudn that game because of the season we had leading up to it was unbelievable. We weren't just there to be a part of it we could have won that game and it felt that way the whole time up to the end.

Hopefully we get to visit some new campuses outside of the SEC soon. Ladd-Peebles isn't going to blow us away I don't feel like.

Gainesville was just horrible. I hope it's better than it was...holy ****...that was 13 years ago. I'm old.

2nd the Gainsville trip being horrible, the Gator fans and their key jingling in the 2nd quarter summed it up for us, we left. Headed North going back to Destin for the night and heard on the radio that Fl St was playing Wake Forest in Tallahassee so we stopped in there for that one, Noles won pretty big but don't remember score.

Athens was unbelievable, even though we lost. Definitely my favorite. Tulane trips are always great too.

I usually have a good time in Baton Rouge and Oxford, just based on the fact that I know people there. Tuscaloosa is usually fun.

Sun Bowl in '74 was by far the most interesting. Snow storm, trip to Mexico, first half of game planned in knee deep fog followed by tag team 20+ hour drive straight home.

I've told this story before but we left in middle of 2nd and were going to drive back to MS Gulf Coast to gamble. A few of my friends on the trip were from Long Beach. Get to our care - we are blocked in. So we went to a sports bar and didn't leave until 2 AM.

God, I hated that game. I get to hear about the 17ing fade pass almost daily.

You must have headed to Five Points after the game. Still a cool place for the college crowd but it has gotted very scary down there the past couple of years. Several shootings.

Man, I was a soph. at $tate and attended that game. Remains one of my all time favorite MSU memories as a student. We went 5-6 and lost the Egg Bowl in '89, but that was an awesome atmosphere at the rock that night.

Atlanta for Georgia Tech was a blast, but that was because of the group, not the football.

Had a great time at the Gator Bowl. It was my first time to Jacksonville, and it didn't hurt that we curb stomped Michigan in the process.

The basketball game at Bama in 2004 to win the SEC was crazy. There must have been 4-5,000 State fans there.

Loved the trip to Oregon. Fun tailgating before the game with Oregon fans I had met on their message boards. After the game we drove to Mt. Hood and stayed in the Timberline Lodge (the hotel exterior was the hotel exterior in The Shining). Rode horses in the mountains and slid down an alpine slide.

A couple trips to Ole Miss for basketball wins in the 2000s were a lot of fun. One year a security guard took the guy next to me's cowbell and as the guard was walking down the steps with it, State fans were yelling "LEFT, RIGHT, LEFT". You could hear us on the TV broadcast.

As a student at State in the 80's we road tripped at the last minute to Gainesville (I gave up 2nd row tickets to the GoGo's for the trip). Pretty wild and fun weekend. Stayed in the UF Phi Tau frat house and in the middle of one night I woke up in some trophy room of a rival frat. There had not been a party there and they were firing questions at me.

Has to be the trip to Salt Lake in '99 to whip BYU's ***!! Went to Vegas for two nights prior, fly to SLC and drive down to Provo for the game. Can still see Dicenzo breaking 14 tackles, spinning and diving into the end zone right in fromt us!!

Unfortunately, the Mountain West officials paid us back for the Provo game in 2001. It was the most biased officiated game that I have ever attended...and I was at the one in Baton Rouge where they only gave us 3 downs on the goal line.
