They told me it did not count towards your regular pledges, but added points to your account. I guess similar to purchasing bowl tickets. Here is an email response I received to the same question.

"I checked on your brick question, and you do get points added to your account based on the brick purchase. It is added like an additional payment, adding points to your account. Therefore, it doesn't count towards your regular BDC pledges that you make. We are in the process of uploading those points into accounts. I hope this helps. Please let me know if you have any other questions. Thanks so much!"

This is what they told me too. Even though I paid in 2012, it would show up on my BDC account in 2013, however it would not count towards my 2013 required pledge.

Presumably it's a tax deduction too, so don't forget to count that on 2012 taxes since that's when you paid it. It's possible you may have to take a percentage off the deduction for the value of the brick itself but it couldn't be very much. I know when you pay the fee for Club Level, you can count 80%; the 20% you can't count is because you get food, programs, etc. I don't really think the food and such is really worth $600, but that's the way it's done.
