is more of a yawn. We beat you like you were a high school team, we won the Cotton Bowl, and ESPN and SI writers are picking us in the top 5 or 10 for next year. Excuse us for not caring that you committed two guys that have been leaning your way for a year.

Yet you cared enough to find your way over here and tell us how you feel. That's thoughtful of you.

Weren't Clemson and Auburn both top 10 pre-season this past year. Forgive me for wanting to wait and see what you do before I believe Ole Miss will be a top 5 team. USC, Florida, Texas, Oklahoma, Penn State are 5 off the top of my head that will be better than OM next year. I am sure there are more

Ohh cmon.. why didn't you just say that Thames and Bumphis didn't fit the mold in oxford. Keep the spirit point of view alive.

Here i'm going to say this and you see how it sounds... Pat Patterson's offer was pulled from MSU because he just wouldn't succeed in Mullin's system and MSU stopped recruiting him. He didn't decommmit... we pulled his offer.

See how stupid that sounded? that's what all that sounds from coming from your end.

and I am thrilled about all of the commits, but I will be a lot happier a month from now if we have them all signed to scholarships. Tennessee and all their new expensive recruiters is somehow worrying me. Hope I am wrong.

1) Ignorant? I said SI and ESPN people were picking us in top 5 or 10. Kirk Herbstreit, Colin Cowherd and Mandel picked us 4, 5, and 6. Who is ignorant? I never said I thought we should be that high, I said they picked us that high.

2) I didn't say anything about anybody pulling offers "fitting a mold," they are both good players. Anybody that knows anything about this stuff knew a long time ago that Bumphis (good player) and Thames (good player but won't qualify) were not coming to Ole Miss. To suggest that Oxford is "literally blown away" by these two guys committing to State is laughable. At this point we are still in on several good WRs, I would be happier with Patterson, Scruggs, or Marlon coming to Ole Miss. In any case we are already really deep at WR.

...more than a year old would be more appealing to recruits than a Cotton Bowl trophy so new it still has Houston Nutt's slobber on it?

Go ask your Oxford asshats to solve that conundrum.

SI on
Ole Miss
The trendy preseason top 10 pick for 2009 got a big boost this week when defensive end Greg Hardy announced he would return. Hardy has had plenty of ups and downs at Ole Miss, but he has averaged a sack in every game he has played the past two seasons. The Rebels lose defensive tackle Peria Jerry, but they welcome back a front that includes Hardy and monster nose tackles Ted Laurent and Jerrell Powe. Add that to an offense led by quarterback Jevan Snead and speedy jack-of-all-trades Dexter McCluster, and it's easy to understand why the Rebels are getting so much hype.
Houston Nutt's Rebels were one of the hottest teams in the country down the stretch, providing a glimpse of even better things in '09. Quarterback Jevan Snead will emerge as a potential Heisman candidate, and if Ole Miss can continue developing a defense to complement its explosive offense, the Rebels could have their best season since the '60s.

Now as for Bumphis and Thames, I think we would have loeved Bumphis for the Wild Rebel role and I think he would have been damn good at it. However, I also believe that he either A. Had no interest in Ole Miss and we stopped recruiting him or B. The staff thought he was more trouble than he was worth and stopped recruiting him. In either case we had stopped recruiting him due to the fact he was not going to come to Ole Miss (Doesn't mean we didn't want him.) Now Thames, I honestly believe the coaching staff felt they had better options at Safety and if he was going to come to Ole Miss he would have committed with Clayton over the summer.

That's extremely easy to answer and if you weren't such a douche-bag you would know already. While bowl wins and winning seasons do help in the current year they do more for the rising seniors, the guys you have a full year to make an impression on, hence the reason MSU has cleaned house in MS this year.

Next Feb when Ole Miss has the upper hand in MS you will know why. Winning on the field translates to the recruiting field a year down the line.
