Once again, our buryball team is a complete joke. Once again, our "coach" is blaming it all on youth. Well I am here to tell Bury that he can take his youth excuse and shove it straight where the sun does not shine! Bury had valid reason to use the youth excuse during the 2005-2006 season. We graduated Lawrence Roberts, Shane Power, Winsome Frazier, Marcus Campbell, and the eternal senior Ontario Harper the year before. That's 5 seniors that we had to replace.
Fast forward to this year, and Bury is trying to use this youth excuse again. The problem is, unless you are avid subscriber to Swanspage and you believe his propaganda as if it were the Gospel, you see this youth excuse as complete BS!!
Bury is the one who ran off the Delk Sisters, both of whom would have been seniors this year. Bury is the one who ran off Ben Hansbrough, who would have been a junior this year. Bury and his assistants are the ones who made no valid attempt to get Jamont to stay for his senior season. They thought we would be better off withDee Bost, a "True point guard," as Bury would call him. Therefore, they let an agent talk Jamont into leaving, and now Jamont can not even make it with a European League team.
Ever wonder why Phil Cunningham and Robert Kirby have never been hired away to be a head coach at a small school? BECAUSE NO ONE WANTS THEM BECAUSE THEY BRING NOTHING TO THE TABLE!!!! Speaking of coaches, I did a double take last night when I saw Billy Begley on the bench in a suit. I said to myself, "What's that idiot doing on the bench in a suit?" It was not until later that someone called me and told me that Billy is a graduate assistant coach? ARE YOU KIDDING ME? BILLY BEGLEY, THE HUMAN VICTORY CIGAR IS A COACH?
Bury has done less with more than any coach in the country. We have been loaded with talent, yet can not win with the talent. Butler in 03 and Xavier in 04 were not flukes, they were better coached than we were. Duke in 05 was Duke being a great Duke team, but we should have never been a #8 seed that year. Once again, Bury failed to coach the team up in 2005.
I can't imagine what the end of the 09 season is going to be like. Someone, probably Kodi Augustus and maybe someone else, will defect. Gene's Sheep will panic because they will be afraid that Kirby and Cunningham will leave to take the head coaching jobs at the University of Alaska at Juneau, or the University of Maine. Ease the panic sheep, those guys will not be wanted there either. Bury will use the, "We're young" excuse again, and we will be back at square one again.
The only optimism is that we have a new sheriff in town who's running our athletic department who has proven thus far that he's not taking any crap off coaches. We can succeed, and we can win at Mississippi State.
