I’m thinking about opening up a gourmet hot dog parlor in the district. How does this sound to everybody? I think it would be a cool idea and wonder what other though.

Aren't 'gourmet' and 'hot dogs' oxymoronic?

Go for it. You should only serve RC Colas in a bottle with them. Chips while they last and a Yeti full of ice cream sandwiches for $3 each.

People are giving you dickhead replies, but there is a similar establishment that opened here 5 or so years ago and they kill it. It’s great. I ate there all the time till I started doing keto. Don’t let them deter you.

“Weiner the Pooh”- peanut butter, sriacha, honey etc... good ****. Pair with a chili dog of some sort

I anticipated the funny comments. I think it would be cool to have a bunch of different types of hot dogs. Maybe down a hot do theme based off of our opponent that week. For example if we were playing LSU I’d do a foot long corn dog. Then have like homemade ice cream with coke floats and stuff like that. Definitely have to serve some brewskis with my dogs. Thanks for the reply’s! I’m seeing if it’s something that would be interesting.

You give me a hotdog buffet and I’m going to pound town. Also, you’ll need 10 different types of mustards, AND DON’T YOU DARE ALLOW KETCHUP.

Hell yeah. I plan on keeping it cheap. Like $9.99 for 12 hotdogs or no more than $1.99 for a dog

Well then, you might have a problem. $9.99 for 12 “gourmet” hot dogs?
Rethinking this, you’re looking at a college town, my example is from a neighborhood that’s got money to burn. But there’s a definite path somewhere; you’ve just got to figure that out. Hotdogs can be the new pizza. Those places never go out of business.

Here’s the place I’m talking about.

That price point is going to be tough if it’s truly going to be “gourmet” I would think (too cheap). But I could be off base.

If you’ll notice further up the thread, I can have a serious conversation...and still respond to yourself.

Drop the name calling and provide some actual content. Again, could be hard to expect from a handle “Upyurs”.

Here is another appetizer for you. goes great with beer.

Drunk wieners. Cut dogs into 1-2 inch pieces. In a pot, boil the pieces in craft beer - I would use an IPA. Add Tabasco (liberally) or your brand of hot sauce and boil the beer down to almost nothing. What is left is a thickish beer/pepper sauce and hot spicy beer flavored dog to eat with a toothpick and your special Buffalo wings type dip. I like them really hot, so I use a lot of hot sauce (LA Gold) on mine. Texas Pete is good on them too. You can jazz up the recipe with hot mustard or horse radish.

We always used cheap cheap red hotdogs, but you could go gourmet and use brats or whatever.

Good luck with your beer and dog place. Why don't you call it BigDawg's?

Back in the 1960s I worked at T-Willie's Frostop on North State, across from Primos Northgate in Jackson. We served our hot dogs on Butter toasted new England rolls (Cut down the top of the bun). They were different and excellent.

This picture is a lobster roll on a butter toasted New England bun. Google it, there are lots of photos. Your bun provider can probably make them for you.
