Butler looked in good spirits in this post game video

One of the biggest myths on this board is the 2003 game. Bogans still played and had zero to do with being dominated on the boards. Their big guy absolutely dominated and put up 24 and 15. Novak came off the bench and scored 16. They hit six more threes than us.

Bogans scored his average for the season in the game (15) against Marquette. It was just a classic '**** the bed' game that we have had over the years- aka 2010 WVU.
Bogans was nowhere near 100%. I’m not sure what your post is supposed to convey here. He suffered a high ankle sprain the game prior. He most definitely played injured.

Obviously sit Butler rest of SEC tournament and no matter what say he is day to day before Selection Sunday.

While I want to win vs Alabama the more important thing is to have Butler for NCAA tournament.

Yeah.

I fully expect we won't know anything definitive until after the bracket is out. Unless they say he's playing.

But, gotta keep up the gamesmanship to protect the seed.

I think so, too. Easy, though. You’ll be HAMMERED on here with that thinking. I mean, no way an injury to an All American senior guard, that was the heart and soul of the team, had anything to do with us playing flat in a tournament game. 🙄
Exactly, my stepdad said as soon as he was injured there goes #8 because I truly believed that team was winning it all. Marquette did play out of their mind that day as evidenced them getting buried by Kansas in the Final Four.

Yep. My Dad said the same.

The longer we play, the more likely he can come back.

Damn, Texas A&M shouldn't have lost yesterday then. We could've faced them in the tournament to give us more time for Butler to recover!

Pretty obvious that I'm saying it's a ridiculous excuse to explain the loss where we got dominated. Bogans still scored his average with his ankle and had ZERO to so with the frontcourt getting smoked.

But every single time on this board, someone claims that was why we lost and it's BS. An injury would've explained the 1997 Arizona loss but it doesn't align with reality of 2003. It was just a bad game.

*******, anybody with a modicum of common sense knows exactly what I’m referring to. If someone is seriously injured, especially a 5th year senior, they would be distraught over knowing their career is over. Butler wasn’t acting that way.
Have you ever competed in anything with a team? Dear lord man. At the END OF THE GAME MERELY SECONDS AFTER A GAME WINNING SHOT, of course Butler is going to be happy. If he weren’t, he’d appropriately be labeled a selfish prick. Stop being so self absorbed. Butler is a good one. Zero chance he’s thinking about himself in that moment.

My lasting memory of Lamont Butler will be, of him leaving the court with an injury. How many times have we seen this? For a guy with such a thick powerful body he sure gets hurt a lot.
Stop dude. I separated my shoulder sliding into 3rd base going 1st to 3rd on a damned single. Was never the same. Ever. Once it’s out, it’s crazy how flukey it is. And it hurts like a *****. Butler didn’t play tonight because he probably got shot up and it takes 24-48 hrs before you get ROM again. It’s that simple. FTR, I think Pope knew we’d get our doors blown off and Butler coming back tomorrow was just smoke. But I’m telling you this, as someone who has had that shot way more times than I can count…24 hrs in you have no ROM. 48 hrs in you can literally move mountains.

Player D2 Football(2nd string WB) in early 80’s. Semi pro baseball in the 90’s. So yeah, I played a little bit. WBU?

Sooooooo, you should know then. I love that you played “wing” back. Oh the eras.

I played 2B and hit leadoff on a couple D2 nattys. It doesn’t mean squat now.

Seriously though, you have to know in the moment Butler was just stoked about the game winner. Nothing else.

That was a typo. Should have been QB. Yeah I can agree with that but I wasn’t completely off since he will in fact be coming back.
