Butter or Margarine?

Someone brought bagels and butter to the office this morning. I keep margarine in the house, but whipped butter was a nice change of pace. I might like it better than margarine.

Only had butter growing up. Got married, only had margarine. About 5 years ago my wife switched to only Kerrygold butter. Butter definitely tastes better.

Switch to Extra Virgin Olive Oil on veggies and roast them in the oven at low temp(300-325) with salt and pepper. Makes veggies taste better. Broccoli, Cauliflower, Carrots, Brussell Sprouts, Asparagus, etc.

Most restaurants, breakfast restaurants have margarine on table, we have butter. Made the switch years ago because of customers commenting about it.

One of the best things about living in Germany was buying fresh butter at the market. Even better, go across the border to France. Unreal.

Be sure to read the Olive Oil labels. If it is a mix of many diff countries it probably doesn't taste that great and they may have chemicals. Be sure it is just from 1 country like Italy.

A very nice gesture, but bagels scream for cream cheese IMO. But a toasted bagel with melted butter is a great 2nd option.

My grandmother used to call margarine oleo.

I don’t remember her actually *saying* the word. But she’d hang on to used margarine containers to put leftovers in. And then the container that actually had margarine in it she’d put masking tape on and write oleo on the masking tape. I remember thinking “WTF is oleo,” sounds like it might be a dessert, opening up the container, and learning, oh, oleo = margarine.
