I'd rather finish #1 but it's sure fine to be #1 now. I still think I'm in a coma and none of this is real. I'll wake up and they'll tell me that we merged with USM and are the best plastic cup making school in the country.
Buy. I don't know why the FSU fan base is so incensed over that- so long as they take care of business and win they will make the playoff.

What I absolutely will hate is the "I told you they weren't deserving of #1" if we lose a game we aren't supposed to lose. Remember Mullen doesn't lose games he is favored in. Being #1 means we will in all likelihood be favored from here on out. Any loss now will be an upset and the naysayers will be out in force.

I wanted to get to number one but now that we are there it's not that big a deal to me to stay there as long as we win. I think we will get the same amount of public setting as number two or number three.
I don't see us slipping in the AP, but we have a slim lead in the Coaches Poll.

I want us in the playoffs and it would be nice to be the #1 seed, so yeah, I care. Feels good at the top. But anxiety is present.
If we get bumped to number two A lot of people will take up our case. I'd love to see the Alabama and Florida's of the world arguing with everyone that Mstate should be number one.
At the same time there were a lot of recruits that clearly indicated that Mississippi State being the number one team in the country is changing the way they view our university. I would like for that to continue we can rewire the way recruits think about MSU for years to come

I know, but I betcha the AP top 4 are in the playoff, unless 3 of them (possibly even 2) are SEC or SEC West.
i dont care assuming we dont lose a game. this is uncharted territory. these are the times fathers will tell their sons of and stories of the grind will echo through the annals of time.
one thing is crazy to me,
we were 9 point dogs at LSU....won by 5 (could have been much, much more, so lesson learned)
we were 2.5 point favorites vs aTm...won by 17 (could have been much worse)
we were 3 point dogs vs auburn...won by 15 in a game that was far from cleanly executed...ie, 4 turnovers off two poor throws. we had a 40.5% chance of winning that according to the FPI.
now we are underdogs (according to ESPN's FPI index) in the alabama and ole miss games. we have a 40% chance in those per the FPI. its incredible how things have come together. some bama fans seem resigned to the fate that we will win that one. i dont know about that, but we have a legitimate shot at holding serve all the way to the national title and winning more games than anyone in the history of ncaa football. that is a world away right now, but it is certainly in the realm of possibilities. just gotta keep the ego in check, stay hungry, and keep trying to get better. our previous battle scars are paying dividends.
