I think he would have been more likely to admit his guilt if he were still with the Saints. His career is over either way. I see this as an effort to try to insulate Payton and the GM from some of the guilt. Don't really think it will work though. I think Payton gets at least an 8-game suspension.</p>

he's had the whole weekend to watch some things fall out. all i've heard on sports talk this morning from former players is that it goes on at some level everywhere... it is the only thing that makes monday's film room worthwhile for those guys. he *might* lose some game time this year, but it won't be what it seems it should be. i think his penalty will be lightened because he is no longer associated with the saints. of course, if the player's union comes out and demands his head on a lance....

for legal liability reasons. I've seen alot of quotes from players about it being fairly common, but I've seen a couple that have said that after this it's going to stop league-wide. I think the penalties are going to be the most severe we've ever seen from the NFL. I'm not sure why the fact that Williams is no longer with the Saints would cause the league to take it any lighter on him anyway.
