Buy or Sell: Tebow as Asst. Coach?

This is assuming that he's done trying to make it as a QB on the pro level (or as anything really). Would you be in favor of hiring him on as an assistant at MSU? Obviously he'd bring a bit of circus with him. I think he's the Christian Laettner of college football (one of the greatest ever who's game doesn't translate into the pros) so he might add a lot to a college coaching staff. Anyway, with him being released and likely done in the NFL, if Dan wanted to bring him on, would you be for it or against it and why?

I think I'm a tentative buy. The circus would be worth his positive influence on the players (seems like a natural leader) and his experience running the offense Mullen is most comfortable with. The drawback is that he's a mediocre passer at best with a bad delivery, so I'm not sure you'd want him teaching the passing game to any young QB.

I could do without the circus you mentioned.

He was an exceptional QB in college because of his size and athleticism coupled with Mullen's offense. We already have Mullen's offense, he won't be able to bring anything new to the table there. And since he wont be able to teach size and athleticism, i'm not really sure how he would help. He's definitely a leader, which is important, but i'm not certain that should be enough to land someone a coaching gig.

Buy. I would use him more as a recruiter. Freeze tweets Bible verses and sells Christianity to recruits' parents. We could send one of the most popular players ever to talk to recruits. We could also send the most popular Christian athlete to talk to parents of recruits. Plus TT would bring so much attention that the whole nation would know we're the Miss State Bulldogs not rebels.

Hell yeah I'd take him.

He would be a great recruiter. Mommas would love him.

Great national attention.

You don't have to have great mechanics to teach great mechanics.

He's a hard worker and a great competitor that knows what it takes to win on the collegiate level.

Having someone with his background would mean that Mullen is going back to being Mullen again and bailing on this crap game plan on offense that takes Bama level talent to be successful.

Buy but we would really need to keep him around for more than a year. The first year would be the circus you mentioned. The second year and thereafter is when you would get something of value out of him.

Just his twitter activity would be great for us. He has over 2.4M (that's million not thousand) followers. Mississippi has almost 3M people to put that into perspective.

I'd love to have him. He would be a well known addition to the staff, and his relationship with the Mullens is reportedly outstanding. And there are lots of coaches who can teach but can't perform themselves. Look at Saban. In fact, I can't think of any who were really outstanding players (there probably are some obvious ones but I can't think of them at the moment).

And as someone mentioned, he'd really be a good recruiter and an honest competitor to Freeze. Nobody would ever think of saying he's a Scientologist ....

100% buy, but won't happen. He will go into missionary work and inspirational speaking when he finally washes out of the NFL. Also, If he really decided to go into coaching we couldn't afford/keep him.

Buy,buy, buy, buy, buy. I am not a huge Tebow as QB fan, but he would bring a ton of good pub, and a solid knowledge of the game to our program. It will never happen though.
