think the key number is 20. As in pass attempts.
You know Miles would prefer to not to air it out much more than 12-15 times at most. If we can stuff the run on 1st down forcing them to throw on 2nd and 3rd and long it will make LSU play a way it doesn't want to play and hopefully can't play. If we can force them to throw it 20+ times and can get good pass rushes all game I think we have a chance to grab one for 6. A defensive or special teams TD isn't a must for us to win but getting one probably doubles our chances of winning.
And we need to use the John Thompson/G'Town Patrick Ewing strategy to start out the game. Thompson used to tell Ewing to put the first 3 shot attempts into the bleachers, even if it was 3 goal tends. Told him the 6 points was a small price to pay to have Ewing in their minds every time they attempted a shot. This would be taboo in the NFL with their stance on hits, but the first WR to come streaking across the middle needs to be laid out. The 15 yards would be a small price to pay to have them hesitate to cross the middle. And you have to be careful when telling your corners and safeties this and having them do it on an uncatchable pass but if they get burnt grab the guy. It's not a spot foul like in the NFL, a pass interference flag isn't near as demoralizing as a 70 yrd TD would be in Death Valley. We need them to feel every yard get get and every point they score.
