If you have tickets for sale and the transaction is between 2 people who support the same school and all interaction is through a message board system (i.e. private messages), it's ****** to sell them for more than face value.

**This is not happening to me but was curious of everyone's thoughts.

I probably wouldn't sell to anyone over face value, no matter which team they were for.

If you want to make a profit - there are other avenues.

Ummmm....aren't these two parties with free choice in the transaction? I mean, I think it is a nice gesture and all to sell them for face value or even give them away. But, I don't think it is ****** to look for a profit. If someone takes the deal, I would think that means it was indeed not ******.

But this is only good for regular season tickets. I'd be too leery about any bowl or championship tickets being turned around for profit by so called anonymous fan.

and they had ample opportunity to get their own through the school.

If others would pay that amount, you are essentially giving away that money for a stranger. I may take less than I could get elsewhere, but unless I like the person, no, not helping them out for being too lazy to get their own.

Obviously, there are extenuating circumstances at times, but in general, nope.

Name your price and if they are willing to pay good for you. However I would only sell them for cost.

scalping is perfectly legal in Tennessee for example. And no, printing "do not sell for more than face value" on the back does not really change that.

It's just that a venue like SPS or even ...ugh... Genespage is not the place to do so. Just doesn't seem right. Kinda like making a business deal at church. Nothing morally wrong with what you're trying to do, but you can easily go elsewhere to do so. Also, I imagine DS would start wanting a cut of sales if they were above face value.

Just because someone has something you want, doesn't mean they are supposed to sell it to you for a discount, give it to you, not make a profit off you or anything else. They get to do what they want with their property. And you get to decide for yourself if you like their terms or not. Everyone is free to do what they want with theirs.

I think YOU know that I give away a lot of tickets. But, I don't consider doing whatever you want with your property to be ******? Would what you are talking about be nice? Sure. But, failure to make a kind overture isn't ******.

i am all for capitalism.

if you know the person well and you want to give them a break then so be it, no matter what school they are rootin for. i see this as the same thing as selling them to someone you know when tailgating.

/i am surprised that Mutt hasn't come on to call us all communists

Okay, my analogy was a poor selection. I did not mean to make a divine-like comparison, and did not mean to invoke scenes of moneychangers and the like.

I think it is ok as long as you were up front about it but if you do it to me I still am gonna think you are a huge douchebag. So you have every right to do it and we have every right to tell people and give you **** about it.

If I have extra tickets the year the Bulldogs are 11-0 going into the Battle of the Golden Egg, I will not sell them to a fan of the same school I am at less than what everyone else is selling them. I wouldn't do it to my friends, but cheering for the maroon and white doesn't make you a friend.

I will be your BFF in a bar during basketball season in Memphis though, unlike that douchebag Sesh.

Conversely, I bet most of the people that think it's so ****** to charge more than face value (i.e. make a profit) are the same ones that get pissed if you charge more than $15 (i.e. take a loss) for tickets to every other game, because "People will give them away at the stadium".

if you're at UF or UGA or somewhere that tickets command a king's ransom worth of donations then by all means jack them up.

But here? Face Value

Henry Kissinger said:
well, it's also against the law
Stub Hub is sanctioned by the university and it sells them over face value all the time. What is the difference between that and between two individuals? We say it is against the law but the U gets proceeds from Stub Hub when it sells them....seems something is not quite right about that.
