I think his image took a hit for most people, but I didn't think it was that bad and it didn't change my opinion of him.
like I said, good for the boys and girls club forcapitalizingoff of it but that wholeproductionwas the most egotistical thing I have ever watched.
I commend Lebron on what he did. The guy did what was best for Lebron and that was go to Miami and instantly become favorites for the title next year and years to come. Sure he probably shouldn't have done the 1 hour special, but I mean who cares really? A lot of other people were going to their feelings hurt no matter what his decision was. Had he chosen NYC or CLE it would have been, "Oh that Lebron only cares about the money and living in the big city of NYC, or he's too loyal to the city of Cleveland". The guy is taking less money, and yes I know so is Bosh and Wade, to go to a team to win CHAMPIONSHIPS. That's all the guy cares about, and it is refreshing to say the least. People will say he looks bad going to a team with two other star players, but it's about damn time he gets to play with some star players. Being stuck in Cleveland all that time with Mo Williams and "Big Z" had to be somewhat depressing. I'm glad he didn't let his emotions make this decision for him, yet he chose the smart option.
It was going to be pretty hard for him to come out looking good in this situation though. Although, I can't say he was greedy since Cleveland offered him more money.
Kind of like Micheal Scott giving out laptop batteries to "Scott's tots".
Was this hour long show his idea or ESPN's though? If I were LeBron, I would have probably told them to nix the one hour special if it was their idea. That would have helped a little if he didn't go along with it.

That guy has done more for the city of Cleveland in his seven years than any other person I can think of. He made them absolutely tons of money. I mean what did Cleveland do for him? Who the hell did they bring in during the free agency to make Cleveland become more appealing? The guy could live anywher he wanted to during the offseason yet chooses Ohio, yet somehow he doesn't even care about his hometown? Please.....
And slapping his hometown in the face nationally. I can understand his reasoning's but doing it in that fashion reminded me of a 18 year old high school kid pulling college hats out of a bag to show where he is going. Good for the Boys and Girls Club, but im sure his agent said, "If you dont want to look like an *******, donate the air time to a charity."
I think he's going the A-Rod route. I think he's totally tarnished his future image and potential to be listed among the greats of all time. Even if he wins NBA Titles, he'll be doing it on Dwayne Wade's team. Much like A-Rod just won the World Series on Derek Jeter's team. Nobody is going to view LeBron as carrying his team to an NBA Title in the way that Jordan, Bird, Olajuwon, Duncan, Shaq, Kobe, etc. have done. If he takes the Cavs, Bulls, Knicks, Nets, or Clippers to multiple NBA Titles, he has the chance for NBA mortality.

It was for those reasons I was hoping he would sign with the Knicks. Make it his team in a big market. Even though it seems like he's backing away from a challenge and/or betraying his hometown, I don't blame him for wanting to go to Miami. Dude's gonna be living like a rock star. Ironically enough, you just can't do that in Cleveland.

I do find all the "can't believe he left his hometown" crowd laughable. As mentioned before, his career is a business and Cleveland is a ******** (and that's putting it nicely.) If he had stayed in Cleveland, everyone in Miami and NY would have said he did it all for the money. The guy went where he thought he had the best chance of winning. I would also venture to guess Miami has more marketing opportunities for one of the most marketable athletes in the world than Cleveland.
Now the pressure is on.
By the way, I won't lose or gain sleep over anything that happens in the NBA; I just watch occasionally.

I don't understand why everyone wants to hold a professional athlete to higher standards than they hold themselves to.

I can't fault him for choosing Miami. But it is absolutely ridiculous the spectacle he and ESPN cooked up.
Went for a walk with the wife (may her name be praised forever). However, Boys and Girls Club is a great organization and ESPN made lots of money for them by showing the circus that his move created among all of thesports fans who made it be important by obsessing over it for the past few weeks.
