You would have gone for it on 4th and whatever at the end of the first half like Nutt did.

For me, it's a sell. Ole Miss was at State's 43 and if they don't get it, we get the ball with a short field. There was 1:23 on the clock. Punt it - pin us deep and be down 14-9 instead of 17-9 or 21-9.

but I would have gone for the 4th and 1 we had on the Ole Miss 30. We don't have a good long FG kicker.

...and it seemed counter-intuitive to go for it at that point. By way of comparison, I would have also kicked the FG at 4th-1 at the OM 30. Make it and it's a 3-score game. Miss it and they still have 70 yards to go to cut the lead. Our D was playing well last night.

I thought it was stupid for them to do that. I thought it was a good playcall too, but Big Pern ate it up.I love the fakeFB HB pitch, but Pern stayed home at got it.I still sell on us going for it in the 4th quarter. Big D was 9 for his last 9, had confidence, and if you get the FG it's a 3 possession game. Miss the conversion, and give them the ball on the 30 and give them some momentum at home.

I think Dan doesn't go with someone unless he is confident they can come through. Big D has come through a lot this season, so I think he earned the opportunity to try and put the game away to put us up 18 in the 4th.
