I just can't imagine us ever putting a team on the football field that could compete with a schedule that contains Bama, Florida, Texas, OU, UT,Auburn, and LSU.

Baseball, hell the SEC is already tough and we are the worst team in it. Adding 2 more top 10 programs would drive a nail in our coffin. Hoover would be way tougher than Omaha.

Basketball would be our only shot at being relevant and even that would be a massive challenge.

Not only us, but OM as well.

In football especially, we're already among the 6 that are simply hoping for the stars to align to have a shot at a conference title. Throw 2 or 3 more stronger programs in the way, and all of a sudden, we need another couple stars and planets to get in line.

I would still enjoy football, just like I do right now, but we'd be fighting most years for middle of the pack bowls. 12th in the SEC would likely get you a bowl game in a 16 team league.

Texas has been the big shot in SWC and big 12.....they expect to win a national championship every year in every sport.....with their only competition in this mindset is OU....

Pac 10? the only real threat is USC, who has that mindset, and can legitimately do it....

The SEC has more bat **** crazy programs that think this way, and can do it.....UF, Alabama, LSU.....hell even UGA and Tenn think this way.....and UK in basketball...

The SEC is not for texas, because they know the overall chances of them winning a national championship in any sport go down....they would be relevant, just less relevant than they are now...

that doesnt sit well with Texas, and they know it......they won't rule the roost in the SEC, and they can't live with that.

Texas will never be in the SEC....ever.

The way I interpret this question, it suggests that we have either been relevant or will one day be relevant in a national sense. I don't necessarily mean national title sense, but on the national radar.

We have never been nationally relevant to date. Only about 20 teams are a household name across the nation, and we're not one of them. Hell, ESPN still can't figure out that there are two Mississippi schools in the SEC.

If we do ever become nationally relevant, we will have to consistently beat Alabama, Florida, LSU, etc... If we can consistently beat them, we can beat Texas and Oklahoma. Just keep in mind that they will be playing the same schedule.

I was talking about ANY sport. Also it was a hypothetical question. I don't expect either to end up in the SEC.

when it comes to sports. I don't think adding them in the mix would make us any less relevant were we to potentially become relevant.

****... now I'm confused.
