Since we pet the Bulldog at the end of the Junction when the team and band walks through, should we have one on the field where the players come out. Not trying to steal something from Clemson, especially since we already do it (just not on the field). Also, on the pedestal they could have something (ie. number/plaque)to honor Keffer McGee and Rodney Stowers and any other players that may have died while on the team.

I have no idea if this is in the plans or not, but I like the idea.
I can say, as I posted in the new pics yesterday, they have markers down for a new entranceway for the field as well as brick and lanscapping work. Have no idea what would come out of it as of yet, but thers is room and time to do it right now.

I think its a bit hokie right now.....start adding all this new stuff and it looks like we are trying to hide a talent starved football team behind them.

lets wait AT LEAST one year, maybe two. If you start a "tradition" on a year that we win 4 games then it sucks. Lets wait to do something new until the first year that we actually have promise. Then that builds an identity with the action.

yes yes i know. start a tradition is a stupid term

Build it now..with the finishing touches being done on that area of the walkway in t
he stadium right now would be a perfect time to intergrate it into it.

and as far as traditions on losing seasons..are you saying we should stop doing the dawg walk? No.
These aren't the kinda traditions that will work or fail based upon the performance on the field..the dawg walk and building a statue of bully to be rubbed walking into the stadium
are things you can do whether you go 12-0 or 3-9...its not some new cheer or chant or something goofy...its a permanent part of the program.

I like the team running out through the smoke, but I wish they would do it without a helmet or canopy. Just have the team appear from behind the smoke just past the Scott Field marker.

Since we obviously play on an ancient native american burial ground, it would be our destiny to witness the following: The Sonic Boom has done its thing. The FMB is weakly following that with that fanfare ****. We fire up the CO2 canisters for the big entry, then watch as the smoke clears revealing 3 trainers hustling to the side of the fallen player who managed to get disoriented before striding into a hole negligently left over from construction of the mootube. The trainers call for the aircast and the rickshaw gurney. The player? Tyler Russell.

a) one part is a memorial,
b) we already do it on campus, and
c) it beats the hell out of running out of a blown-up helmet.

The blow up sponsored helmets are awful - are they still doing that? Come on Chad Thomas - don't have that as a sponsorship option, please. Let's just use kick *** music - use enough smoke - hell, can the smoke be 'maroon' on one side and 'white' on the other? Just blare the music and gather and then run through it. Keep it simple and just win.

As corny as that sounds, I like it. Does anyone else use colored smoke? Most people probably think of The U when they see the smoke entrances but using some sort of colored smoke might be an original idea.

Is there a memorial on the field to Bully I? I mean, he's buried at the 50 yard line under the where the players bench used to be. Is there a stone or something? Or is he just under there somewhere?

there is a nice big marker with all the names of the Bullys and the years they "served" that is chained off.
Nice time I'm by the stadium I'll snap a pic.

monument or something. Hell, I'm reaching. But, I am glad there is stone there. One day, I hope to give enough money to the Athletic program that I can be one of those idiots that gets to wander around the field on game day like I am the damn rentacop in charge of Davis Wade Stadium. If that happens, I shall visit said stone.</p>

can't get to it from the field...the bushes that divide the field and stands are in the way.
I'll see it I can swing by and get some new pics tomorrow.
