will most likely be one of two typical state first game specials:

1. Play brought in from sidelines with 11 seconds on the play clock; Carroll calls timeout; or
2. Carroll fumbles snap and falls on ball. [Home game, Flick: "Approximately no gain on the play."]

in our first game last year. Our best chance of winning this year is to hand the ball to Dixon or Ducre 60% of the time. I'm fine with that. I know I'm in the minority, but that kind of thinking got us 8 wins and a bowl game last year. If we can run the damn football, then run the damn football. Would be nice if Carroll could hit the open guy when necessary though. IMO, you can still win in college FB if you run well & play good defense. Hell, UAT won a NC in 92 by mostly running & playing outstanding defense.

I think we scored or came close. I want to say it was against Georgia and Herschel Walker. Maybe not. But I do remember that we ended up losing that game.

I think our best chance to win is to compete on the line of scrimage, grind out some first downs, and look for chances to strike after we've established a rhythm in the game. Of course, Louisiana Tech is not LSU, but habits carry over. Nothing sucks like being down 14 with 14:33 left in the first quarter.
