Eli had a weird career. He was good but not great for the most part, but had two magical postseason runs where he turned into Joe Montana, and beat Tom Brady in two Super Bowls. I don’t think he should get in, but he’s a Manning and does have two Super Bowl rings, so he will eventually.

Sterling Sharpe was a Hall of Fame player who had his career cut short by injury. He only played seven years, but was first team All-Pro three times and made five Pro Bowls. He led the league in receptions three times and in TD receptions twice. Eli played for 16 seasons and was never hurt, which allowed him to compile lots of stats. If not for his two Super Bowls, he wouldn’t even sniff the Hall of Fame.

Players with multiple Super Bowl MVPs:
  1. Tom Brady (5)
  2. Joe Montana (3)
  3. Patrick Mahomes (3)
  4. Bart Starr (2)
  5. Terry Bradshaw (2)
  6. Eli Manning (2)
Add that his two Super Bowl MVPs were against the guy with five Super Bowl MVPs. That's pretty loud.

It’s a buy from me for now. Two magical postseason runs, but a very mid career otherwise.

I think he’ll eventually get in, but not a first ballot guy
He was a good QB but was never considered the best QB of his time. I doubt I'd have ever ranked him top 5 in any season he played. He was always overshadowed by better QBs his entire career. Maybe it's not his fault he played during Payton, Tom, and Drews careers but he did.

Buy. 117-117career record. Not in top 50 in QB rankings. Slightly above average QB. But the 2 rings & the name will get him in.

i hate all this first ballot, second ballot, twenty third ballot stuff. Either you're a HOFer or you're not.To me Eli is not, but there are a lot of players in the baseball and footballHOF that I think shouldn't be. Lot's of Hall of Very Good.

You could easily cut both HOF’s in half. But that wouldn’t make as much money.

one other thing I don’t like. What’s up with the 2 SB rings gets a QB in talk? There’s been some pretty mediocre QBs that won a SB. And no one says 2 rings gets an offensive lineman in.

Eli is not a Hall of Fame QB. Would he be the first inductee to never make a single All Pro team?

We have this notion that Eli’s postseason’s runs were magical, but he wasn’t great in their first run (2008). Averaged 200 yards per game and didn’t turn it over. 2008 and 2012 are the only years he won a playoff game. He went 1 and done four of six playoff appearances.

He is the definition of “Hall of Very Good”, IMO.

He’s nothing more than Philip Rivers in a slightly more competent organization, historically. He should never get in. Rivers actually had a superior career across the board, statistically.

Holy cherry picked stats, Batman.

Super Bowl MVP’s is probably not even in the Top 5 of stats considered for HOF QB’s. It’s literally picked by like 5 people on the damn broadcast network in the 30 seconds between the game ending and the trophy presentation. It’s the most worthless award that there is in the NFL.

I hear you, and if we could go back in time, I think there are more than a few guys that probably should not have ever gotten into the HoF. However, since we can't take back what's been done, I do actually appreciate the fact that this is the committee's way of telling Eli... look, you're probably getting in one day, but you ain't Peyton

Funny enough Peyton and Eli are complete opposites. Peyton was a stud in regular season, but look at his stats in those two Super Bowl years. He was carried by two great defenses. Threw a ton of post season picks those two years. Eli the opposite. Mediocre in reg season but untouchable for 2 runs.

Very few modern day (1990+) HOF QBs weren't elected 1st ballot....may be only Warner. He'll probably get in but it could be a while.
