Buy/Sell Cohen's teams will score more points in baseball games than McCorvey's offenses can score in football games.

I buy that Cohen could beat McCorveys usual 14 pts or less a game.</p>

I forsee your baseball team having a lot of cuts in the near future. With rosters capped at 35, and the requirement that each player receive a minimum 33% scholarship, you're probably looking at quite a few existing players that will be cut from the team. That may not be a bad thing, but my guess is it means it'll take you a year or two of rebuilding.

I think he did something similar at UK, and they won maybe 7 SEC games his first year. Of course they shared the SEC title his second year. It'll be interesting to see if, who, and how many of your players end up transferring/get cut.

By the way, the newest baseball rules suck. If you were to put all 35 of your roster players on scholarship, and you just gave them the minimum 33%, you'd use up the entire allotment of 11.7 scholarships. I think it works out to 11.67 scholarships used up.

So essentially, for every player you give more than 33% you have one less scholarship player. That's not a huge change, in that a lot of teams have always had a good number of walk ons on the roster, but it's going to make it even more difficult on the coaches.

I thought I had heard 33%. Either way, it stretches you pretty thin, and I'm sure Cohen will be making quite a few cuts in the next year or two.

and that's without the 2 or 3 that we lost to the draft this year. Now, I don't exactly know what the new limit and all that is, but it does appear that our team will stay about the same number of players as it has been.

He may have to cut a few to get down to a newly imposed player limit or something. I don't think schollies matter all that much, most guys want to come play at State just because it's State.

and had to be satisfied out of the 11.7. But they changed it to 25% and it can be satisfied by academic aid as well as athletic aid. You can never have 35 on athletic scholly though. Its 30 max this year and 27 after that.

Its about time we start cutting folks. Everyone has been doing it for a while. Perno is notorious. He signed TWENTY guys this year.

I'm not sure they are this year hopes. I look at next year with a lot of optimism. I think we will pull better players with Cohen and I think he is a better Coach (sorry Ron - I always liked you).

Did I actually say wait until next year. How MSU can I get?

)

is basically marked improvement. He MIGHT make a run at a Regional. But mainly I just want to see the players REALLY compete and want to win. Polk used the word "competed" alot but I'm not very sure he ever knew exactly what it meant.

Our players have not even cared since he got back. We made it to Omaha in '07 on basically sheer talent.

I have a good feeling Cohen's boys will resemble a group of Chuck Norris's on the field. aided by Greg Byrne's philosophies.

when Polk first got here in 1976, our fans- some of who later became his croonies- were just satisfied with going to a Regional. Before Polk I, we had only been to Omaha once. The problem is Polk never adjusted his goals as the program got better, and then things changed. Now all you have to do to make a regional is finish in 9th place in the SEC. I honestly think Polk was surprised that we wanted to win a NC.
