Tubs pulled the trigger on Franklin's *** in mid-season because he already had his replacement signed, sealed and delivered.

Sell. Tubs will step down at the end of the season, so it didn't matter that he canned his OC after 6 games.

I imagine Franklin was fired because of a blow up. It is well documented that Franklin was handcuffed and I bet the two came to blows over it. Tubbs just wanted him the hell out of there so he could take over completely.

He fired Franklin to cut his losses. It's obvious Franklin was a complete disaster as OC at Auburn and Tubs is trying to salvage the season. This also deflects some of the criticism of the offense for the rest of the season. Even if it still sucks, it'll probably show at least a little improvement, and Tubs has already done about all he could possibly do mid-season, so the critics will not be nearly as loud as they'd be if Franklin were still on board.

and that's why I think he's making his escape plan. He's taking back over the offense in order to salvage the season and put himself in position to head to another situation as "the coach who can still rescue a sinking season."

How out of control is it?

Here's the photo making it's way around the upper echelon SEC this morning. This is a close-up of Franklin coming out of the athletic admin building yesterday:
