Buy or Sell?

Cam Newton will be a more prolific passer in the NFL than Ben Roethlisberger?

I'm buying. And since I also think he's a better runner than Roethlisberger, I have to ask myself if I'm saying Cam Newton is going to be a more effective NFL QB than Big Ben Roethlisberger.

And don't give me any of that "but Cam is too big of an idiot to be as successful as Roethlisberger"... Cause Big Big is a huge idiot.

So my only question is... Can Cam Newton throw it at least as well as Ben?

Cam will be a different player when he is not allowed to just take off and run the ball. I think Cam will have a hard time reading defenses. I do not think that Cam will ever win a Superbowl as a starter.

Maybe the biggest sell of all time. Cam Newton is going to be the second coming of Vince Young. To think that Cam is going to be better than Ben is silly. Roethlisberger is one of the best passing QB's in the NFL right now.

Still, I think you're selling him short if you think Newton isn't very accurate in the short passing game and can put the ball on the money on out routs.

I'm still buying that his potential is greater than Roethlisberger's. But so much of how you develop in the NFL is determined by who's willing to draft you.

I'm a huge cam newton fan, and I agree this is biggest sell of all time. You can't compare a johnny-come-lately one-year-wonder with the 3rd best quarterback in the NFL and a man who has cemented himself in the annals of history as a proven winner and one of the best of all time in crunch time on the professional level. You can like or dislike Big Ben, but he gets it done. If he wins the super bowl in 2 weeks, he'll be a top-10 all time QB. 3 Super Bowl wins including one by last minute TD drive including a Super Bowl MVP. 3 would put him behind only Terry Bradshaw and Joe Montana.

Ben is behind only Bart Starr in playoff winning percentage at 10-2.

But to say he's better than Rothlisberger, that's a hugestretch. He has the potential to be as good as him, though. As far as physical tools, he's the best QB I've ever seen at any level. But there's a lot more to the NFL game than just physical tools.

Cam Newton is the same as Vince Young. Big fish in college is about to become the little guy in the NFL. I think their personalities are very much alike as well. Once Vince Young could no longer win games on athletic ability alone, he blew up. I can foresee a similar future for Cam. Just my opinion

Joe Montana, John Elway, Dan Marino, Brett Favre, Peyton Manning, etc. From what I see on the field, at this point in his career, Cam Newton is a better QB than Vince Young ever was. He's bigger, stronger, has a better arm, and is almost as fast as Vince Young. And his head can't be any more 17ed up than Young's is. Texas would have been a top 10 team without Vince Young. Auburn wouldn't have been a top 20 team without Cam Newton.

At the least, if his career ended this offseason, he is still 1 of the best of all time b/c of Super Bowl appearances and wins.

he is the same as Ryan Leaf, Jamarcus Russell, Joey Harrington,, Alex Smith, and Troy Smith. All I am saying is that I dont think the guy is a true pocket passer, and when he tries to start running over people in the NFL he is going to be in for a rude awakening.

I base my opinion on Newton on what I've seen on the field. And Newton impresses me a hell of a lot more right now than any of those other players did except for Ryan Leaf. Could he be a huge bust in the NFL? Sure. Predicting who is going to be a good NFL QB and who's going to be a bad one is a crapshoot. Even the guys that get paid a lot of money to make those projections get it wrong a lot of the time.

but I don't understand this statement at all.

From what I see on the field, at this point in his career, Cam Newton is a better QB than Vince Young ever was.
Young threw for 3000 yds as a Sr and rushed for 1000 more.

In his first win. Which by the way is lowest for any superbowl QB ever. Against the Cardinals he did amuch better job of managing the game finishing 21-30 for 256yds 1 TD 1 Int PR of 93.2.

I get tired of people saying he is great. He is okay and plays on a great team in a good system with great ownership.

However I don't think that Cam will be a better passer. He is going to make one hell of TE though

against Baylor, okie state, a&m, and the rest of the big 12, Cam killed it against 7 ranked teams with only above average talent around him. Cam is a way way better passer than VY and their personalities are nothing alike. I think Cam is a much better leader and not the prima dona Vince is. I think his game is closer to big Ben's than Vince's.

Newton could be good, but I don't know if he can be great. I'm not sure that he takes it serious enough just from watching how he acted during Auburn's games this year. Maybe he is totally different in the film room, but I doubt it seriously. And if that is the case, no amount of talent will overcome that. Not to mention he tends to throw the ball high when pressured and his first instinct is to run neither of which are good combinations in the NFL.

Big Ben might be an idiot as someone put it, but I think he takes football serious. I don't think Newton will when he gets to the NFL.

and had 60 less yards passing than the great Drew Brees on 8 less attempts. When the Steelers throw the ball the dude can absolutely fling it with the best of them.

...whether or not Newton will be a more prolific passer in the NFL than Roethlisberger.

Take a look at Big Ben's numbers. They're not spectacular. He had a good passer rating in the regular season but is 10th in the playoffs. And he's not being asked to do a lot with his arm.

All I care about is he won me the trophy. Too many people get caught up in stats because of fantasy football. What seperates Ben is that he can extend plays, make first downs and keep drives going. Look at what he did to Suggs in their 2nd (?) meeting where throws him off of him and makes the pass to set up the go ahead TD. No other QB is doing that.

More willing to run
Throws the ball high
I doubt he takes things serious enough to prep for opponnets
Will have trouble reading defenses

He will not be better then Rotaeoijhgvaburger
