The NFL says its moving forward with an 18 game season. Apparently the league office has that right in their NFLPA contract. The owners are OK with it if they can subtract some preseason games.

I think I'd prefer neither. I'd like to keep 16 games AND reduce preseason games. So SELL.

Plus, then the players association would probably go for it, more total NFL players. But with a longer season, injuries, etc. they need to expand the rosters.

The teams charge full price for tickets to preseason games and there's no way they're going to cut back from 10 home games per year to 9. So the only real options are a 16-game season with 4 preseason games or an 18-game season with 2 preseason games. The 18-game season WILL happen, with the players approval which as OP4 points out will include expanded roster sizes.

But like OP said, need more players on roster. I think the roster should be slightly larger with the current 16 games.

Also, I hate paying full price for my preseason games. Two preseason games would be enough, especially if all teams do like the Saints and hold several practices against other teams leading up to the preseason games. This year the Saints did it with NE and Houston.

None of the players get paid for the practice games. Their salaries don't start until the first regular season game. I would say that the teams should be allowed to carry 60 players through the first four games, and then cut down to 47 by the fifth game.

Colleges do without practice games. The NFL has countless mini-camps so the coaches should know who can and can't play in the League. The NFL should develop a minor league like Baseball has so players who are late-bloomers can develop. Also, this would be where the 13 players on your team would go after the fourth game to continue playing.</p>

I'm with the players on this. I'd rather keep it at 4 &16. I wonder if Pierre Thomas, Lance Moore, and Marques Colston would have made the roster had they only gotten a few reps in 2 exhibition games? Pierre in particluar, ifI recall correctly, he hadn't beat out Antonio Pittman until that final exhibitiongame against dolphins in'06......

I would love for there to be more games. The preseason is crap anyways and expanding the rosters would be genius because of potential injury increases due to more games. BUY
