Or this search has not been a success, barring a change of mind from Petersen/Patterson/Kelly because that point who cares how long it took.

I figured you would have a press conference on Thursday, Im assuming they are just working on the details with the Coach to be.

I am buying, at this point unless MSU lands an established HC, there should be no reason not to have a coach in place by Friday.

Im pretty sure DS said he wanted a coach in place by this week, what is everyone else's thoughts?

The longer we wait, the field gets thinner and we have to lower our expectations. We need a coach by tommorrow (wed)

When this started, I was hoping for something to be announced by today or tomorrow.

We have to have a coach by Friday or we will start losing recruits on Monday, if we have not already...

I think the Ninja is just working out a few details, like letting Wilson coach in the BCS Championship Game...
As long as he pulls double duty I am fine with it..

Great if he finds the guy by Friday; however, you certainly don't make a decision you will have to live with for at least 5 years because you might lose a couple of 17 year olds from this year's class. There are any number of names and no-names out there who will make us a fine coach. What will be impressive is if GB can actually identify one and get him signed up. Based on the number of coach hirings and firings each year it is obviously not easy to find the right guy. You certainly won't know it the day he is announced and the fanbase's reaction really means nothing, because they will support a consistent winner no matter what they thought the day he was hired (unless they wear black and gold and have an emaciated Harpy Eagle for a mascot).

If you get the hire right, you can repair any damage done by dragging things out. BUT YOU HAVE TO GET THE HIRE RIGHT!

TR and She Mate Me.

If there is any contact still with Petersen or anyother FBC head coach, I think you continue to wait until it is a 100% no. I think, FBS head coaching experience is so important, I would give him until after his bowl game if that is what he wished.

Coaches can not recruit (other than one telephone call per week) until after New Year's Day anyway. You name a big time coach as recruiting is getting cranked back up.....that gives you some excitement as the coaches start visiting living rooms. It will just make some guy extremely busy hiring assistants and making visits.

If you have hit a glass ceiling then go ahead and get the ink. However, if you feel like there is still a good shot at getting a top choice anytime before Christmas would be acceptable.

If you dont make a good hire recruits will drop and if you wait to long on a hire the same will happen. Balancing Act

Without knowing the candidates involved. Kevin Wilson tomorrow >>>>>> Dooley on Monday. Patterson in a week >>>> Wilson tomorrow. This is only taking into consideration the value of the hire at present, not predicting who would eventually prove to be the better coach. Byrne surely knows . . .
1. Get Peterson immediately. If not . . .
2. Get Patterson/Kelly/Whittingham immediately. If not . . .
3. Wait a while to get one of these (or whoever he things is worth it). If not . . .
4. Get the next best coach as soon as possible, with the quickness of their decision to accept factoring in.

but you know that coach from Idaho. I think there is no reason to talk about him anymore because its dead. Also he has a bowl game in 14 days. Don't see it unless a miracle happens. So all you guys holding hope for that guy better pray hard.

I want either Wilson or Mullen. If that means we have to wait awhile on them to decide thats fine with me. I know everyone is going to start worry about it but it's not going to do any good. It may hurt us on recruiting but then again our coach only has 2 months to evaluate the team and determine the players he needs or wants. I know we are going to have to hold on to crooms recruits but we all know we are going to lose some. Hell croom already lost a couple of them due our wonderful season. I just want a good coach and I think forcing either Wilson or Mullen to make a quick decision may end up pushing them away.
